Does Financial Inclusion Enhance Energy Efficiency?? Moderating Roles of Education and Foreign Direct Investment
The path to sustainable environment: Do environmental taxes and governance matter
A poor environment, in turn, hurts the growth and well‐being of the economy. This is because it reduces the quantity and quality of available resources or compromises health. Undoubtedly, economic growth and environmental degradation are closely linked. Hence, environmental taxes are introduced by countries to decrease environmental degradation caused by economic progress. This study checks the impact of environmental tax, governance, and energy …

Financial development and environmental degradation: Do human capital and institutional quality make a difference?
Clean energy consumption, economic growth, and environmental sustainability: What is the role of economic policy uncertainty?
ICT and education as determinants of environmental quality: The role of financial development in selected Asian countries
Investigating the role of economic complexity in sustainable development and environmental sustainability
A productive economic structure, represented by economic complexity (ECP), augments the economic development of nations. However, previous empirical investigations on this topic are confined to understanding the direct effects of economic complexity on environmental quality with equivocal outcomes. Therefore, this study not only probed the effects of ECP on the ecological footprint (EF) but also explored the indirect environmental effects of ECP …
Retracted Article: The nexus between urbanization, renewable energy consumption, financial development, and CO2 emissions: evidence from selected Asian countries
In terms of attaining the objectives of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Asian economies are considered as laggards, and one of the major problems faced by these economies is the issue of environmental degradation. For addressing this pertaining issue, a policy-level reorientation might be necessary. In this view, this study aims to explore the impact of urbanization, renewable energy consumption, financial development, agriculture, and …
Green financing of eco-innovations: Is the gender inclusivity taken care of
The OECD countries are in pursuit of the betterment of environmental quality based on their capability of Eco-innovation. This progression might pave their ways in attaining the Sustainable Developmental Goals (SDGs). Developing a green financing channel for funding is necessary for the sustenance of these projects. However, the potential impact of this project financing mechanism is conditional on the social balance in the economic system. Gende…
Asymmetric effects of eco-innovation and human capital development in realizing environmental sustainability in China: Evidence from quantile ARDL framework
The present study investigates the dynamic and asymmetric impacts of eco-innovation and human capital development on ambient pollution by validating the Environment Kuznets Curve (EKC) hypothesis in China from 1988Q1 to 2018Q4. The findings confirm non-normality and structural breaks in data. Thus, Quantile Autoregressive Distributive Lag (QARDL) model and Granger Causality-in-Quantiles are applied to address non-linearity and structural breaks. …
Moving toward sustainable development of sub‐Saharan African countries: Investigating the effect of financial inclusion on environmental quality
The purpose of this current study is to provide a new framework for assessing the impact of financial inclusion on environmental quality in Sub‐Saharan Africa countries. To this end, the impact of economic growth, education, natural resource usage, and remittances on carbon emissions, as well as financial inclusion, is evaluated over the 2004–2020 period using second generation panel data methods, namely, CS‐ARDL and the following findings are fo…
The impacts of land use change on biodiversity and ecosystem services: An empirical investigation from highly fragile countries
Globally, biodiversity and ecosystem services (BES) are rapidly declining due to continuous human intervention. The most important factor behind this rapid decline in BES has been attributed to the different land use changes such as agricultural expansion, urbanization, and deforestation practices. Therefore, the present study intends to understand the impacts of land use changes along with the effects of egalitarian democracy, human capital and …

Environmental Kuznets curve for CO 2 emissions: A literature survey
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to provide a survey of the empirical literature on environmental Kuznets curve (EKC) estimation of carbon dioxide (CO 2 ) emissions over the period of 1991–2017. Design/methodology/approach This survey categorizes the studies on the basis of power of income in empirical models of EKC. It has been hypothesized that the EKC shows an inverted U-shaped association between economic growth and CO 2 emissions. Findin…
