Moldova, the Latvian Purges and Khrushchev’s Generational Struggle, 1958–1962
Historians of the Soviet Union have increasingly turned their attention to the seemingly quiet years of 1958–1962. Turnover in top leadership within the republics has long been noted, but the causes of these changes and their extent are still not precisely known.
