Poetic brain: The neural substrates underlying imaginative and philosophical poem reading
Grammaticality and acceptability of Chinese news headlines as a Special Language Domain: A mixed methods study
Language works by rules, yet linguistic rules may be intentionally and legitimately violated in certain areas of language use to achieve pragmatic purposes. This phenomenon, known as Special Language Domain (SLD), provides a unique perspective to unravel the motivation, mechanism, and limit of language evolution. Event-related brain potentials in lexical processing with Chinese characters show effects of contextual diversity but not word frequency
Influence of Concessive and Causal Conjunctions on Pragmatic Processing: Online Measures from Eye Movements and Self-Paced Reading
This study investigates the influence of causal and concessive relations on discourse coherence in Chinese by means of eye movement and self-paced reading techniques. We use the sentential structure like “NPHUMAN moved from place A to place B, {because (因为 yinwei) /although (尽管 jinguan) /no conjunction} + pronoun (he/she) + verb (e.g., like) + there (nali)... + NP”. The eye-movement data (Experiment 1) recorded from regions of interest consistent…

Syntactic Prediction in Sentence Reading: Evidence from Eye Movements
Sentence-Picture Integration in Chinese: Evidence from the Measurement of Eye Movement
