    Open Access•Mandy Lodder, A J P Schrijvers et al.•ARTICLE•Housing Care and Support•2019•References: 2

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to examine whether there is an association between case managers’ personality traits and functional outcome of people with severe mental illness (SMI) living in community housing programs (CHP). Design/methodology/approach Functional outcome is measured by the extent of self-reliance. Self-reliance of people with SMI was measured with the Dutch Self-Sufficiency Matrix. The personality of the case manager was m…

  • A comparison of the quality of care in accident and emergency departments in E ngland and the N etherlands as experienced by patients

    Open Access•Nanne Bos, Ian J Seccombe et al.•ARTICLE•Health Expectations•2016

BACKGROUND: Measuring patients' experiences to determine health-care performance and quality of care from their perspective can provide valuable evidence for international improvements in the quality of care. We compare patients' experiences in Accident & Emergency departments (A&E) in England and the Netherlands and discuss the usefulness of this comparison. METHODS: A cross-sectional survey was conducted among patients attending A&Es aged 18 ye…

  • The Consumer Quality Index in an accident and emergency department

    Open Access•Nanne Bos, Leontien M Sturms et al.•ARTICLE•Health Expectations•2015

BACKGROUND: Patients' experiences are an indicator of health-care performance in the accident and emergency department (A&E). The Consumer Quality Index for the Accident and Emergency department (CQI A&E), a questionnaire to assess the quality of care as experienced by patients, was investigated. The internal consistency, construct validity and discriminative capacity of the questionnaire were examined. METHODS: In the Netherlands, twenty-one A&E…

  • Clustering of health-related behaviors, health outcomes and demographics in Dutch adolescents

Open Access•Vincent Busch, Henk F van Stel et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2013

The results show that health-related behaviors tend to cluster, indicating that specific behavioral patterns underlie individual health behaviors. In addition, specific patterns of health-related behaviors were associated with specific health outcomes and demographic factors. In general, unhealthy behavior on account of multiple health-related behaviors was associated with both poor psychosocial and physical health. These findings have significan…

  • The process flow and structure of an integrated stroke strategy

Open Access•Emma F van Bussel, Thomas Jeerakathil et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2013

The APSS overcame substantial obstacles to decrease discrepancies and to deliver integrated higher quality care. Telestroke has proven itself to be safe and feasible. The APSS works efficiently, which is in line to other projects worldwide, and is, based on limited results, cost effective. Further research on cost-effectiveness is necessary

  • Variation in Long-Term Care Needs Assessors’ Willingness to Support Clients’ Requests for Admission to a Residential Home

Open Access•Frederike Jörg, Natacha Borgers et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Aging and Health•2006•References: 4

The authors found random effects of the level of needs assessors are negligible, of the level of agencies small though statistically significant, clients receiving largest relative share of the variance. The amount of care already present appeared most important in the decision. Needs assessors were willing to support their clients' wishes only when they were clearly motivated. Policy implications considering the tension between clients' preferen…

  • Do integrated mental healthcare organisations facilitate process quality in the treatment of people with schizophrenia and related psychoses

    Open Access•Dick P Ravelli, V J A Buwalda et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2003•Cited by: 1

The age of integration of residential and ambulatory mental health institutions correlates significantly with two subscales of process quality of schizophrenia care, i.e. availability of interventions and treatment. Catchment area size is not significantly associated with process quality or any of the subscales. Despite the mentioned positive effects, the overall picture of schizophrenia care is not very positive. Additional forces other than mer…

  • Quality of regional individual needs assessment agencies regulating access to long term-care services

Open Access•Susan Jedeloo, Luc De Witte et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2002•References: 3

In improving quality seen from a client perspective, one should focus on what is actually done for the client, rather than looking at the RIOs structure

  • Disease management

    Open Access•A J P Schrijvers•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2002

  • Objectivity in needs assessment practice

Open Access•Frederike Jörg, Hennie Boeije et al.•ARTICLE•Health & Social Care in the…•2002•Cited by: 4•References: 4

In 1997, the Dutch government installed independent agencies to assess the long-term care needs of individual clients and to give advice on the allocation of appropriate services. Needs assessors assess, among other things, the eligibility of clients requesting admission to a residential home. According to guidelines, needs assessors should do this objectively and independently from care providers and health care insurers. The present paper exami…

  • Organisational design for an integrated oncological department

    Open Access•Ch L Meiss-de Haas, H Falkmann et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2001

Successful multidisciplinary care in an integrated, oncological department needs broad support inside the hospital and a well-defined organisational plan

  • Can shared care deliver better outcomes for patients undergoing total hip replacement

    Open Access•Henk Rosendal, W T van Beekum et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2000•Cited by: 1

The utilisation of home care after hip replacement should be critically appraised in view of the need to stimulate patients' independence

  • In-patient care for symptomatic, HIV-infected persons

    M G W Dijkgraaf, August H P Luijben et al.•ARTICLE•AIDS Care•1995

Patterns in the costs of hospital in-patient care and in-patient drug treatment of 121 symptomatic, HIV-infected patients are described for a university hospital between 1987 and 1991. Trend analyses have been performed on quarterly and yearly data using parametric and non-parametric statistical techniques. During the 5-year study period the demand for hospital beds almost quadrupled despite a constant number of admissions per person-year and a 4…
