Change in the Spatial Clustering of Poor Neighborhoods within U.S. Counties and Its Impact on Homicide
Recent scholarship has examined changes in the geographic distribution of poor persons in America, but it remains unclear whether high- and low- poverty neighborhoods have become more, or less, spatially clustered over the past several decades. Additionally, while many have argued that growth in both high-poverty spatial clusters and high-low poverty spatial clusters could yield conditions that are conducive to increases in homicide, previous res…
Virtual reality and learning
The aim of this paper was to build upon D algarno and L ee's model or framework of learning in three‐dimensional (3‐ D ) virtual learning environments ( VLEs ) and to extend their road map for further research in this area. The enhanced model shares the common goal with D algarno and L ee of identifying the learning benefits from using 3‐ D VLE s. The approach adopted here is to attempt a more pedagogical description using the concept of pedagogi…

A Bird of a Different Feather? An Experimental Investigation of Physical Attractiveness and the Electability of Female Candidates
Lee Sigelman, Carol K. Sigelman, Christopher Fowler, A Bird of a Different Feather? An Experimental Investigation of Physical Attractiveness and the Electability of Female Candidates, Social Psychology Quarterly, Vol. 50, No. 1 (Mar., 1987), pp. 32-43
Differential effects of noise and incentives on learning
Three experiments are reported. In the first, monetary incentives improved the learning of nonsense words in response to colours only when the test order was the same as presentation order. In the second, incentives increased the recall of spatial location which served as an additional retrieval cue for nonsense words. In the third, noise was used to manipulate arousal. Noise during learning produced a significant decline in recall of locations f…
