  • Medical exam question difficulty prediction

Shicong Feng, Tianpeng Zheng et al.•ARTICLE•Medical Teacher•2026

Introduction Item difficulty prediction is crucial for planning and administrating educational assessments, especially those with high-stakes such as medical licensing examinations. The inconsistent findings across existing studies, however, highlight a critical gap in understanding which modeling components are most influential. This research addresses this gap by systematically investigating several key factors hypothesized to affect prediction…

  • Empowering Expert Judgment

Open Access•Tianpeng Zheng, Zhehan Jiang et al.•ARTICLE•Educational and Psychological…•2026

A critical methodological challenge in standard setting arises in small-sample, high-dimensional contexts where the number of items substantially exceeds the number of examinees. Under such conditions, conventional data-driven methods that rely on parametric models (e.g., item response theory) often become unstable or fail due to unreliable parameter estimation. This study investigates two families of data-driven methods: information-theoretic an…

  • Common Persons Design in Score Equating

    Open Access•Jiayi Liu, J R Liu et al.•ARTICLE•Educational and Psychological…•2025

The Common Persons (CP) equating design offers critical advantages for high-security testing contexts—eliminating anchor item exposure risks while accommodating non-equivalent groups—yet few studies have systematically examined how CP characteristics influence equating accuracy, and the field still lacks clear implementation guidelines. Addressing this gap, this comprehensive Monte Carlo simulation ( N = 5,000 examinees per form; 500 replications…

  • Parent-adolescent discrepancies in perceived parental warmth and authoritarian parenting and early adolescents’ depressive symptoms

Open Access•Tianpeng Zheng, Liuqing Jiang et al.•ARTICLE•Children and Youth Services Review•2024•References: 55

  • Comparison of missing data handling methods in cognitive diagnosis

Zhilin SONG, Lei Guo et al.•ARTICLE•Acta Psychologica Sinica•2022

  • Association of Plasma DPP4 Activity and Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor With Moderate to Severe Depressive Symptoms in Patients With Type 2 Diabetes

Tianpeng Zheng, Bo Ge et al.•ARTICLE•Psychosomatic Medicine•2020

OBJECTIVE: The objective of this study was to assess the association of plasma dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP4) activity, brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), and the DPP4/BDNF ratio (DBR) with moderate to severe depressive symptoms in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Increased DPP4 activity and decreased BDNF in peripheral circulation have been implicated in the pathophysiology of depression. METHODS: We performed a cross-sectional stud…
