Determinants and reduction pathways of industrial carbon emission intensity from a technology–organization–environment perspective
As one of the world’s largest carbon emitters, China’s industrial sector plays a dominant role in the national emissions structure, making effective carbon reduction by industrial enterprises a critical task for addressing climate change. To systematically investigate the determinants of carbon emission reduction in industrial enterprises and their potential optimization pathways, this study adopts the Technology – Organization – Environment (TOE…
The effects of an eight-week mindfulness training on mood in a Chinese urban sample seeking stress reduction
Childhood environmental unpredictability and hoarding
Life history theory provides a unified perspective for understanding human behaviors as adaptive strategies to specific environmental conditions. Within this theoretical framework, hoarding emerges as a behavior reflecting an evolved strategy in response to unpredictable environmental challenges, serving as a buffer against resource scarcity and enhancing survival prospects. This study aimed to explore the key roles of childhood environmental unp…
The landscape of city‐level GHG emission accounts in Africa
Cities are important actors in the global challenge of tackling climate change. They are not only responsible for the majority of emissions but also highly capable of taking action. An important precondition for effective climate mitigation is a city‐level greenhouse gas emission inventory to guide mitigation action. Yet, most cities in developing countries, in particular African cities, lack that crucial information. This study aims to assess th…
Development and validation of a deep learning model for predicting postoperative survival of patients with gastric cancer
DL-based model was established to accurately predict the survival rate of postoperative patients with GC
Perceived social support and procrastination in college students
Characteristics and Distribution of Organic Phosphorus Fractions in the Surface Sediments of the Inflow Rivers around Hongze Lake, China
In this study, the characteristics and distribution of the organic phosphorus (Po) fractions in the surface sediments of seven inflow rivers around Hongze Lake in China were analyzed with a soil Po fraction method, as used by Ivanoff. The relationships between the Po fractions and physiochemical features of sediments were also discussed. The results showed that, the sediments of the rivers had been moderately pollution with certain ecological ris…
Biomarker Effects in Carassius auratus Exposure to Ofloxacin, Sulfamethoxazole and Ibuprofen
Ofloxacin, sulfamethoxazole and ibuprofen are three commonly used drugs which can be detected in aquatic environments. To assess their ecotoxicity, the effects of these three pharmaceuticals and their mixture on AChE (acetylcholinesterase) activity in the brain, and EROD (7-ethoxyresorufin-O-deethylase) and SOD (superoxide dismutase) activities in the liver of the freshwater crucian carp Carassius auratus were tested after exposure for 1, 2, 4 an…
Characteristics of Dissolved Organic Nitrogen in the Sediments of Six Water Sources in Taihu Lake, China
KCl-extractable sediment dissolved organic nitrogen (KS-DON) extracted from sediments near drinking water intakes of six drinking water sources in Taihu Lake in China was partitioned into hydrophobic and hydrophilic fractions and high/low molecular weight fractions. The results showed that the total dissolved nitrogen (TDN) contents of the extracts ranged from 67.78 to 128.27 mg/kg. KS-DON was the main TDN species, accounting for more than 50%, w…
Assessment of the Sludge Reduction of the Metabolic Uncoupler 3,3′,4′,5-tetrachlorosalicylanilide (TCS) in Activated Sludge Culture
Batch experiments were completed to assess the sludge reduction of the metabolic uncoupler 3,3',4',5-tetrachlorosalicylanilide (TCS). The effects of various TCS concentrations on sludge yield were evaluated and the mechanisms associated with sludge reduction were assessed. We discovered that TCS addition resulted in a reduction in sludge. Furthermore, a low dose of TCS (≤3 mg/L) resulted in a slight reduction in the efficiency of the wastewater t…
Fear of Missing Out and Procrastination as Mediators Between Sensation Seeking and Adolescent Smartphone Addiction
How is problematic smartphone use related to adolescent depression? A moderated mediation analysis
