Differences in Telemedicine Use Between People With and Without an Intellectual or Other Developmental Disability During the Covid-19 Pandemic
Telemedicine utilization of people with an Intellectual or Other Developmental Disability (IDD) during the COVID-19 Pandemic is not well known. This study compares telemedicine utilization of those with and without IDD prior to the pandemic to after it began. Using the Utah All Payers Claims Database from 2019 to 2021, the study identified telemedicine utilization of adults aged 18 to 62 years old in 2019. Propensity score matching was used to mi…

Local Housing Choice Voucher Distribution Policies Impact Healthcare Utilization
While associations between obtaining affordable housing and improved health care are well documented, insufficient funding often forces housing authorities to prioritize limited housing vouchers to specific populations. We assessed the impact of obtaining housing on health care utilization at two urban housing authorities with different distribution policies: Housing Authority A prioritized seniors and people with disabilities, while Housing Auth…
Direct and indirect pathways between childhood instability and adult homelessness in a low-income population
There is a homelessness crisis in the United States. Many investments have been made to reverse this crisis including building more affordable housing and providing rent subsidies, which create mechanisms to support people who are currently experiencing homelessness. However, less is known about how to invest upstream to prevent homelessness in the first place. In this paper, we explore the pathway to adult homelessness from childhood instability…
Examining the flexibility bind in American tenure and promotion processes
This paper analyses the role that forms of documentation play in faculty members' experiences of tenure and promotion. Taking an institutional ethnography approach, it examines inconsistencies and ambiguities in documents and connects them to the experiences of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) faculty at one institution in the USA. The authors argue that the university documentation surrounding tenure and promotion does not…
Gay men’s implicit attitudes towards sexual orientation
The present research sought to distinguish the role of sociocultural negativity and social identification underlying gay men’s implicit attitudes towards sexual orientation. Fifty gay men completed two Implicit Association Tests. In both cases, the task required categorising, as quickly as possible, pictures of gay vs. straight couples, but these stimuli were either classified using normative categorical labels (homosexual vs. heterosexual couple…
Health Care Disparities and Behavioral Health Among Men Who Have Sex with Men
Men who have sex with men (MSM) engage in several harmful health behaviors more frequently than do non-MSM. Meanwhile, evidence suggests that MSM experience barriers to accessing health care. To investigate health care disparities and health behaviors, we compared data from a diverse MSM sample (N = 871) to data from men from the National Health Interview Survey (N = 7,783). MSM reported less health care access than did general population men, an…
