  • A Molecular Phylogeny of Living Primates

    Open Access•Polina Perelman, Polina L Perelman et al.•ARTICLE•PLoS Genetics•2011

Comparative genomic analyses of primates offer considerable potential to define and understand the processes that mold, shape, and transform the human genome. However, primate taxonomy is both complex and controversial, with marginal unifying consensus of the evolutionary hierarchy of extant primate species. Here we provide new genomic sequence (~8 Mb) from 186 primates representing 61 (~90%) of the described genera, and we include outgroup speci…

  • Lemur Diversity in Madagascar

    Open Access•Russell A Mittermeier, Jörg U Ganzhorn et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2008•Citada por: 24•Referencias: 110

  • Complementary approaches of cytogenetics and molecular biology to the taxonomy and study of speciation processes in lemurs

    Open Access•Yves Rumpler•ARTICLE•Evolutionary Anthropology Issues…•2004

The lemurs, prosimian primates of Madagascar, constitute a zoological group containing numerous species and subspecies. Their taxonomy remains controversial. Depending on the authors and the techniques they have used, the number of species varies between 39 and 52. In addition, although a monophyletic origin of the settlement of Madagascar is the most commonly held opinion, recent studies based on molecular biology do not exclude two independent …

  • Genetic Differentiation among Natural Populations of Lepilemur ruficaudatus

  • Intraspecific chromosome variability in a lemur from the north of Madagascar

    Open Access•Yves Rumpler, Rolland Albignac•ARTICLE•American Journal of Physical…•1975•Citada por: 9•Referencias: 4

A cytogenetical study of 25 Lepilemur from the north of Madagascar has given evidence for six karyotypes (with four diploid numbers). Four of the karyotypes with these diploid numbers — 2N = 38, 2N = 36, 2N = 34 — we believe evolved from one another by centric fusion; and two karyotypes resulted from the hybridization of two of these (2N = 37 and 2N = 35). The different karyotypes distinguish themselves clearly from those of other species of Lepi…
