Impact of calculating ROX index in delaying intubation with Covid-19 patients at King Abdullah medical city
Background: HFNC is a respiratory mask that covers the nose like an oxygen mask, with the addition of nasal prongs to deliver extra oxygen. At 12 hours, a ROX score above or equal to 4.88 predicts a decreased probability of progressing to mechanical ventilation. Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate using a high-flow nasal cannula as a potential predictor of delaying intubation. In doing this, the study also sought to verify whether th…
Eating patterns and prevalence of obesity. Lessons learned from the Malaysian Food Barometer
Risk of metabolic syndrome among children living in metropolitan Kuala Lumpur
We conclude that being overweight or obese poses a greater risk of developing the metabolic syndrome among children. Indian ethnicity is at higher risk compared to their counterparts of the same age. Hence, primary intervention strategies are required to prevent this problem from escalating
Ethnic differences in body fat distribution among Asian pre-pubertal children
Asian pre-pubertal children from different origins vary in body fat distribution. These results indicate the importance of population-specific WC cut-off points or other fat distribution indices to identify the population at risk of obesity-related health problems
