A gluten-free diet does not alter performance outcomes in nonceliac athletes undergoing sprint interval training
Although a GFD showed modest benefits for weight management and aerobic performance, its metabolic effects were variable, and challenges with nutritional deficiencies highlight the need for caution in non-celiac athletes
Effects of a 12-Week Web-Based Weight Loss Program for Adults With Overweight and Obesity on Covidage and Lifestyle-Related Cardiometabolic Risk Factors
The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has induced unhealthy lifestyles, particularly an increase in overweight and obesity, which have been shown to be associated with an increased risk of unfavorable COVID-19 outcomes. Determinants of quality of life improvements in anxiety and depressive disorders—A longitudinal study of inpatient psychotherapy
Patients with poor QoL who are not as inhibited to openly express their anxious feelings particularly benefit from inpatient psychotherapy (individual and group) to improve their QoL. In contrast, our research suggests that patients who are too anxious to openly express their nervousness should receive additional social skills training, more focused treatment to build sufficient self-confidence to better engage in the treatment program
Health Effects of a 12-Week Web-Based Lifestyle Intervention for Physically Inactive and Overweight or Obese Adults
Web-based lifestyle interventions have attracted considerable research interest. Available evidence on such interventions suggests health-promoting effects, but further research is needed. Therefore, this study aims to investigate short-, medium-, and long-term health effects of a web-based health program ("TK-HealthCoach", TK-HC) offered by a national statutory health insurance fund (Techniker Krankenkasse, TK). The study comprises two randomize…
Evaluation of an Interactive Web-Based Health Program for Weight Loss—A Randomized Controlled Trial
Personal behavior patterns, such as unhealthy diet and lack of physical activity, lead to the development of overweight and obesity. These are associated with other comorbidities, reduced quality of life, premature frailty and increased mortality. Personalized web-based interventions are promising in inducing behavioral change leading to effective reductions in body weight at relatively low costs. However, the long-term effects have not been thor…

The Influence of Specific Bioactive Collagen Peptides on Body Composition and Muscle Strength in Middle-Aged, Untrained Men
It has been shown that specific collagen peptides combined with resistance training (RT) improves body composition and muscle strength in elderly sarcopenic men. The main purpose of this RCT study was to investigate the efficacy of the identical specific collagen peptides combined with RT on body composition and muscle strength in middle-aged, untrained men. Furthermore, in the exploratory part of the study, these results were compared with anoth…
The Christianisation of Latin Europe as Seen by Medieval Arab-Islamic Historiographers
The article aims at defining what Arab Muslims of the crusading period knew about the conversion of Latin Europe to Christianity through an analysis of Arabic-Islamic sources written up to the fourteenth century. Whereas Christianity seems to have interested the first generations of Muslims mainly as a theological phenomenon, the emergence of more comprehensive forms of Muslim historiography led to the creation of Arabic texts dealing with the fo…
