  • A School-Based Intervention Program to Reduce Weight Stigma in Adolescents

Open Access•Mariacarolina Vacca, Silvia Cerolini et al.•ARTICLE•Children•2025

These findings suggest that incorporating cognitive dissonance-based psychoeducational content within school-based programs may be a promising approach for reducing internalized weight stigma in adolescents. Further research is warranted to refine intervention strategies, explore the mechanisms underlying the observed effects, and assess the scalability and long-term impact of such initiatives in school settings

    Open Access•Andrea Zagaria, Monica D’Amico et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Psychology•2024

  • Bullying Victimization and Adolescent Depression, Anxiety and Stress

Open Access•Mariacarolina Vacca, Silvia Cerolini et al.•ARTICLE•Children•2023

These results are particularly relevant in light of the absence of mediation by protective factors such as the use of positive emotion regulation strategies

  • Differential Associations of Cognitive Emotion Regulation Strategies with Depression, Anxiety, and Insomnia in Adolescence and Early Adulthood

Open Access•Andrea Zagaria, Mariacarolina Vacca et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2023

While difficulties with emotion regulation (ER) are consistently linked to poor mental health in adulthood, findings in adolescence have been more mixed. Cognitive ER strategies, which involve the ability to manage emotions through mental processes, may be particularly important during different stages of development due to age-specific adjustments. We conducted two exploratory and cross-sectional studies to examine the relationships between cogn…

The current COVID‐19 pandemic has created a global context likely to increase eating disorder (ED) risk and symptoms, decrease factors that protect against EDs, and exacerbate barriers to care. Three pathways exist by which this pandemic may exacerbate ED risk. One, the disruptions to daily routines and constraints to outdoor activities may increase weight and shape concerns, and negatively impact eating, exercise, and sleeping patterns, which ma…
