Relief of the Orawa-Nowy Targ Basin, Western Carpathians
This paper relies on the literature to outline the main properties of the relief of the intramontane Orawa-Nowy Targ Basin which is dominated by three fluvioglacial fans. The focus, however, was on the genetically-varied landforms, mostly found within the limits of the fluvioglacial fans, which contribute to the diversity of the basin’s geomorphological landscape. Based on the results of geomorphological mapping of the area and the area’s digital…
Cylowa Zerwa landslide – debris flow forms on Mount Babia Góra (1725) and their development over the last ca. 150 years, Western Carpathians
Cylowa Zerwa landslide – debris flow located on the northern slope of Mt. Babia Góra (1725 m a.s.l.) within the 400 m wide altitude interval (1430-1024 m a.s.l.) is a knowable object which however has not been sufficiently noticed in geomorphological research. This paper, based on geomorphological, geological and dendrochronological investigations, as well as LiDAR data analysis, develops the following issues which describe the functioning of thi…
Changes in the topography of Krakow city centre, Poland, during the last millennium
The aim of the paper is to reconstruct differences between the paleotopography and contemporary topography of the historic centre of Krakow city, Poland, during the last millennium. The paleotopography was reconstructed using published contour-line maps based on archaeological and geoengineering investigations and showing the roof of in situ fossil soil. The preliminary contour-line map represented a digital elevation model (DEM) base map. A DEM …
Reconstruction of the morphology and hydrography of the centre of Kraków before the mid-13th century
The paper concerns investigations on urban geomorphology. The subject of the paper is the historic centre of Kraków (or Cracow) where the pre-human relief became masked due to the rapid increase in cultural deposits from the mid-13th century onwards. The aim of the investigation is the reconstruction of the original topography, relief and hydrography of this area based on rich sources of materials in papers and non-published data on geology, geoe…
