  • Unveiling multi-regional water footprints towards equity and sustainability

  • The association between parental involvement in developmental advance and mental health in Chinese preschoolers

    Open Access•Yan Li, Y P Li et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2026

Objective: This study examined the association between Parental Involvement in Developmental Advance (PIDA) and mental health in Chinese kindergarten children aged 3-6 years, specifically assessing how parental teaching activities relate to emotional and behavioral adjustments. Methods: A cross-sectional study in a western Chinese city involved 21,366 children from 189 kindergartens, selected via stratified cluster sampling. PIDA was assessed via…

  • Unveiling losses due to water scarcity and impacts of policy intervention under SSPs

    Open Access•P Liu, J T Liu et al.•ARTICLE•Environmental Impact Assessment…•2026

  • Characterizing global tropical cyclone events of 2024

Open Access•Lingke Jiang, G Brooke Anderson et al.•ARTICLE•Environmental Research Letters•2026

Full impact assessment of tropical cyclones each year requires a comprehensive sociodemographic analysis. We evaluated the sociodemographic characteristics of tropical cyclone-impacted regions during the 2024 calendar year in the recent historical context of 1980–2024. In 2024, tropical cyclone-force winds affected an estimated 429 902 820 people (5.5% of global population), the 12th highest since 1980, in disproportionately more deprived areas. …

  • Individualised Empowerment in Secondary Cardiac Rehabilitation in Patients With Coronary Heart Disease

Open Access•Xiaojuan Ding, Jing Bai et al.•ARTICLE•INQUIRY The Journal of Health…•2026

Young and middle-aged patients with coronary heart disease who have undergone percutaneous coronary intervention often find it difficult to participate in secondary cardiac rehabilitation. This study examines patient experiences in cardiac rehabilitation using health empowerment theory as a framework. Purposive sampling was used to collect data through semi-structured interviews, which were analysed using Colaizzi's phenomenological approach. Fiv…

  • A multidimensional vine copula hydrological analysis framework for assessing compound risks of blue and green water

    Open Access•Y Qiu, Y P Li et al.•ARTICLE•Environmental Impact Assessment…•2026•References: 63

  • The Effect of Covid-19 on Poverty-Alleviated Households

Xun Li, Yiduo Li et al.•ARTICLE•Economic Development and Cultural…•2025•References: 34

This paper estimates the causal effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on the per capita income of poverty-alleviated households (PAHs). Using administrative tracking panel data from a Chinese city, we leverage quasi-experimental variation in county-level pandemic deaths and policies. We find that the COVID-19 pandemic reduced the income of PAHs by nearly 14.78%. Additionally, each confirmed COVID-19 case was associated with a 2.02% reduction in income.…

  • Interval-parameter bi-level programming for energy system management under uncertainty

    Open Access•Jun Gong, J W Gong et al.•ARTICLE•Sustainable Cities and Society•2022

  • Measuring scarce water saving from interregional virtual water flows in China

    Open Access•Xu Zhao, Y P Li et al.•ARTICLE•Environmental Research Letters•2018

Trade of commodities can lead to virtual water flows between trading partners. When commodities flow from regions of high water productivity to regions of low water productivity, the trade has the potential to generate water saving. However, this accounting of water saving does not account for the water scarcity status in different regions. It could be that the water saving generated from this trade occurs at the expense of the intensified water …
