  • Does urban green space form influence the spatial pattern of noise complaints

Open Access•Xin-Chen Hong, Dan-Yin Zhang et al.•ARTICLE•Sustainable Cities and Society•2025

  • The impact of Covid-19 lockdowns on ethnic disparities in NO2 exposure in England

Open Access•Siying Wang, Huagui Guo et al.•ARTICLE•Sustainable Cities and Society•2025

NO2 pollution disproportionately affects ethnic minorities in England. • Convergence of ethnic NO2 exposure disparities in England between 2019 and 2021. • Non-White groups experienced greater reductions in NO2 levels during the pandemic. • Satellite-based modeling provides accurate estimation of NO2 concentrations. NO2 pollution in England has steadily improved in recent decades; however, disparities in exposure among ethnic groups have persiste…

  • Unequal partnerships

Open Access•Shuyu Zhang, Fei Wei et al.•ARTICLE•Land Use Policy•2025•References: 46

  • The impact of urban landscape patterns on land surface temperature at the street block level

    Open Access•Anqi Zhang, Weifeng Li et al.•ARTICLE•Environmental Impact Assessment…•2025•Cited by: 5•References: 57

  • Building running-friendly cities

Open Access•Huagui Guo, Shuyu Zhang et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2024

The association between built environment and physical activity has been recognized. However, how and to what extent microscale streetscapes are related to running activity remains underexplored, partly due to the lack of running data in large urban areas. Moreover, few studies have examined the interactive effects of macroscale built environment and microscale streetscapes. This study examines the main and interactive effects of the two-level en…

  • Can good neighbourhood perception magnify the positive effect of favourable built environment on recreational walking in China

Open Access•Huagui Guo, Yayu Li et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2024

High perceived neighbourhood safety can magnify the positive effects of road connectivity and accessibility to parks and squares. Neighbourhood aesthetics positively moderates the association of time for recreational walking with accessibility to parks and squares. The findings emphasize the need to consider safety- and aesthetics-specific differences in estimates of built environment effects. Improvements in neighbourhood safety and aesthetics a…

  • Smaller particular matter, larger risk of female lung cancer incidence? Evidence from 436 Chinese counties

Open Access•Huagui Guo, Xin Li et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2022

The effect on the incidence rate of female lung cancer was greater for PM 1 , followed by PM 2.5 and PM 10 . There were positive modifying roles of urban-rural division on the effects of three particular matters. The finding supports the argument that finer particular matters are more harmful to human health, and also highlights the great significance to develop guidelines for PM 1 control and prevention in Chinese setting

  • Ambient Ozone, PM1 and Female Lung Cancer Incidence in 436 Chinese Counties

Open Access•Huagui Guo, Jiemin Liu et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2021

Ozone air pollution has been increasingly severe and has become another major air pollutant in Chinese cities, while PM 1 is more harmful to human health than coarser PMs. However, nationwide studies estimating the effects of ozone and PM 1 are quite limited in China. This study aims to assess the spatial associations between ozone (and PM 1 ) and the incidence rate of female lung cancer in 436 Chinese cancer registries (counties/districts). The …

  • Climatic modification effects on the association between PM1 and lung cancer incidence in China

Open Access•Huagui Guo, Xin Li et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2021

Male residents in high temperature or humidity counties suffer from a larger effect of PM1 on the incidence rate of lung cancer in China. Future research on air pollution-related health impact assessment should consider the differential air pollution effects across different climatic conditions

  • Ambient PM2.5 and Annual Lung Cancer Incidence

Open Access•Huagui Guo, Weifeng Li et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2020

Most studies have examined PM2.5 effects on lung cancer mortalities, while few nationwide studies have been conducted in developing countries to estimate the effects of PM2.5 on lung cancer incidences. To fill this gap, this work aims to examine the effects of PM2.5 exposure on annual incidence rates of lung cancer for males and females in China. We performed a nationwide analysis in 295 counties (districts) from 2006 to 2014. Two regression mode…
