  • Tongan and European Children's Interactions at Home in Urban New Zealand

    Open Access•Helen M Mavoa, H Mavoa et al.•ARTICLE•Ethos•2003•Cited by: 1•References: 35

Three‐ and four‐year‐old children have a range of culturally specific opportunities to develop social skills at home. In culturally diverse environments such as New Zealand, interplay between ethnic group, caregivers' expectations, and children's home interactions is important because different cultural groups share common educational and health systems. In this exploratory study, we compared three and four‐year‐old children's interactions with a…

  • Hormonal monitoring of age at sexual maturation in female Goeldi's monkeys (Callimico goeldii) in their family groups

    Open Access•A Dettling, Christopher R Pryce•ARTICLE•American Journal of Primatology•1999

The aim of this study was to determine whether or not sexual maturation is attained in the family group in captive-born Goeldi's monkey (Callimico goeldii) and if so, at what age and body weight. To monitor ovarian activity in 14 female Goeldi's monkeys, urinary content of pregnanediol-3alpha-glucuronide (PdG) was determined using radioimmunoassay. Urinary samples were collected between the ages of 6 and 70 weeks. Subjects became sexually mature …

  • An investigation into the socioendocrinology of infant care and postpartum fertility in Goeldi’s monkey (Callimico goeldii)

    Open Access•Mike H Jurke, Christopher R Pryce et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•1995•Cited by: 2•References: 29

  • Non‐invasive detection and monitoring of pregnancy and the postpartum period in goeldi's monkey ( Callimico goeldii ) using urinary pregnanediol‐3α‐glucuronide

    Open Access•Mike H Jurke, Christopher R Pryce et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Primatology•1994

Pregnanediol‐3α‐glucuronide (PdG) was measured in the urine of six Goeldi's monkeys during pregnancy and the postpartum period. A stress‐free, non‐invasive urine sampling technique permitted frequent collection of urine from members of the breeding group. A comparison of the periovulatory profiles of PdG and estrone conjugates revealed close agreement. The day of ovulation was defined as that immediately preceding a 2‐4 day period with two consec…
