In the late-medieval Castilian financial system many businessmen conceived of the management of the kingdom’s finances as a profitable business for themselves. This article analyses the activities and strategies developed by three of the financiers who operated in the archdeaconry of Talavera in the mid-fifteenth century using fiscal sources found in the Archivo General de Simancas.
