  • "Tetranstornation" as retrogression: Amlo's Mexico beyond alternation

    Open Access•Ricardo F Macip•ARTICLE•Dialectical Anthropology•2024•References: 12

In response to the landslide electoral victory by the morena-led coalition in Mexico, I offer a two-part argument for its interpretation. Like bifocal glasses, the seventy-one-year State Party rule offers a far-sighted panorama to question the "transition towards democracy" in Mexico. Against this backdrop, a more detailed focus follows the development of the political leader who slayed the party system for the alternation of power. Together, the…

  • Production of New Creative Knowledge in a Local Developing Economy: The Case of Puerto Vallarta

    Open Access•Marcos Valdivia-López, Marcos Valdivia et al.•ARTICLE•Tijdschrift voor Economische en…•2018•References: 22

This paper proposes an agent‐based model (ABM) that combines ethnographic and economic methods to analyse how the social interaction between creative actors generates new creative knowledge. The chosen case of study is Puerto Vallarta, a sun and beach international destination in Mexico. Puerto Vallarta contains, potentially, many of the key elements that are discussed in the literature on creative economy. Our methodological strategy identifies …

  • For the turtles' sake: Miracles, the third sector and hegemony on the coast of Oaxaca (Mexico)

    Open Access•Ricardo F Macip•ARTICLE•Critique of Anthropology•2012•Cited by: 2•References: 21

Turtle fishing - which defined life and work, and the tempo and contours of the coast of Oaxaca - was halted by presidential decree in 1990. The industry's workers converted from predators into guardians of nature under the stewardship of an emergent civil society that coordinated the efforts of environmental NGOs, the regulations of corresponding governmental agencies, and funding from private and public donors. Here I discuss the material and i…

    Open Access•Ricardo F Macip, Ricardo Macip•ARTICLE•Bajo el volcán. Revista del…•2007•Cited by: 1•References: 3

  • Transculturación Y Lenguaje Contencioso Entre Los Cafetaleros Del Centro De Veracruz
