Enhancing quality of life through tailored interventions for men living with HIV
The distributional and spillover impacts of tourism across regions: The case of Indonesia
This paper examines in detail the spillover impacts of tourism on regional poverty, income inequality and inter-regional disparities within an integrated framework. Our novel approach integrates regional TSA and household micro-data within a regional computable general equilibrium model. The findings reveal that while the impacts of tourism expansion are positive at the national level, poverty in some regions can be exacerbated due to the spillov…
Impact of multilevel interventions on reducing reasons for drinking among men living with HIV
Alcohol use is prevalent among people living with HIV and poses a significant barrier to antiretroviral therapy (ART) adherence. This study evaluated the effectiveness of multilevel interventions in addressing the underlying reasons for drinking among men with HIV receiving ART in India. This secondary analysis of a randomized trial in Mumbai assessed the impact of counseling, group interventions, and advocacy on alcohol use. Participants complet…

This study investigates how interactions with tourism knowledge varieties affect indigenous hosts’ perceptions of tourism and regulate perceived tourism values. Diffusion and adult learning theories underpin the foundation of the study. Utilising a qualitative approach and a hermeneutic phenomenological methodology, this study takes Hoa Binh province (Vietnam) as the study context. Fifteen indigenous hosts from the Muong, an ethnic minority group…
Political relations and bilateral tourism demand: The case of China and Japan
Political relations between countries can potentially affect and be affected by bilateral visitor flows. Applying various modified Granger causality tests, this article uses Japan and China as a case study of the possible bi‐directional linkages between tourism demand and political relations. Findings suggest that country relations do influence visitor flows, but not vice versa. The influence is statistically strong regarding visitor flows from C…
Tourism-induced poverty impacts of Covid-19 in Indonesia
International tourism is an important sector in developing countries for its ability to alleviate poverty. Impacts of COVID-19 are detrimental to all tourism destinations. This paper examines the pandemic effects on poverty of regional economies based on a multi-household CGE model using Indonesia as a case study. Results are critically important for policymakers, as the pandemic retracts achievement of poverty reduction significantly, more than …
Measuring tourism emissions at destination level: Australia case
Decarbonising tourism is an immeasurable challenge but increasingly recognised as inevitable. This has prompted vast developments in theoretical models by academics and indicators by peak bodies to explore the pathways. One limitation to the pathways is the lack of emission data. This research presents a framework integrating the principles of TSA with the National Greenhouse Accounts. Tourism emissions are estimated and examined by destinations,…
