  • Epidemiological trends and pathogen analysis of pediatric acute respiratory infections in Hanzhong Hospital, China

Open Access•Yuanfang He, Xiaoliang He et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2025

Background Acute respiratory infections (ARIs) are a leading cause of morbidity in children. Understanding the distribution of respiratory pathogens is crucial for effective prevention and treatment. This study analyzed the prevalence and epidemiological characteristics of ARIs in children from 2023 to 2024. Methodology This study included 9,294 children aged 0–18 years with ARI symptoms who were treated between July 2023 and August 2024. Respira…

  • What motivates food workers to adhere with WHO guidelines to combat the Covid-19? A social cognitive theory perspective

Open Access•Mingliang Wang, Shunlong Gong et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2023

Background: COVID-19 has become a public health emergency and pandemic of global concern, and the hundreds of millions of foodborne illnesses that occur each year also wreak havoc on human lives, society and the economy. Promoting workers in food service establishments to adhere to the hygiene practices in the WHO guidelines is a two-birds-one-stone strategy in preventing the spread of COVID-19 and limiting the occurrence of foodborne illness. Th…

  • Fast Geo-Location Method Based on Panoramic Skyline in Hilly Area

Open Access•Zhibin Pan, Jin Tang et al.•ARTICLE•ISPRS International Journal of…•2021

Localization method based on skyline for visual geo-location is an important auxiliary localization method that does not use a satellite positioning system. Due to the computational complexity, existing panoramic skyline localization methods determine a small area using prior knowledge or auxiliary sensors. After correcting the camera orientation using inertial navigation sensors, a fine position is achieved via the skyline. In this paper, a new …

  • A Novel Rapid Method for Viewshed Computation on DEM through Max-Pooling and Min-Expected Height

Open Access•Zhibin Pan, Jin Tang et al.•ARTICLE•ISPRS International Journal of…•2020

Viewshed computation of a digital elevation model (DEM) plays an important role in a geographic information system, but the required high computational time is a serious problem for a practical application. Hitherto, the mainstream methods of viewshed computing include line-of-sight method, reference planes method, etc. Based on these classical algorithms, a new algorithm for viewshed computation is proposed in this paper: the Matryoshka doll alg…

  • Validation of a Forced-Choice Emotional Intelligence Scale with Chinese Nurses

Open Access•Yefei Wang, Guangrong Xie et al.•ARTICLE•Social Behavior and Personality…•2014

We evaluated the reliability and validity of Wong's Emotional Intelligence Scale (WEIS) – a forced-choice emotional intelligence scale – with a sample of 271 Chinese nurses employed at 2 large hospitals in the Hunan Province of China. The results demonstrated that the WEIS did not fit a 4-factor structure and the scale had acceptable reliability and convergent, discriminant, and predictive validity. Although our results in this study support the …
