A network analysis of depression and anxiety symptoms among Chinese elderly with multiple chronic conditions
Older adults with multiple chronic conditions represent a vulnerable group with health issues intricately intertwined, making them more susceptible to mental health issues such as depression and anxiety. To identify central and bridge symptoms to implement effective interventions, this study constructed a network model of depression and anxiety symptoms among older adults with MCCs, exploring the correlations among specific symptoms. This study u…
From individual burden to social risk pooling
Reducing out-of-pocket payments (OOP) is central to equitable health financing. Although China’s OOP share has declined since 2009, it remains high internationally. This study analyzes the drivers of its reduction from 2009 to 2024. Using a multivariate time-series model, the OOP share is examined in relation to the share of social health expenditure, per capita GDP (log), aging rate, and urbanization rate. A structural breakpoint was identified …
Quantitative evaluation of two-way referral policies based on PMC index model
This study indicates that the quality of two-way referral policy is generally good, which reveals the factors affecting the policy operability and contributes to expand the research perspective of two-way referral policy evaluation. We also analyzed the advantages and disadvantages of the existing policy of two-way referral through policy evaluation, and provided guidance for subsequent policy revisions
Dramatic mariculture expansion and associated driving factors in Southeastern China
Mariculture has a profound potential to meet the escalating demand for food. However, so far the understandings of spatiotemporal dynamics of mariculture and indicators of underlying mechanisms are altogether missing in the existing literature. Using high-resolution satellite images, here we provide a first ever detailed analysis to map the spatiotemporal dynamics and explore associated driving factors of mariculture expansion in Southeastern Chi…
Partitioning the impacts of land use/land cover change and climate variability on water supply over the source region of the Blue Nile Basin
Water plays a vital role in sustaining the natural functioning of the entire ecosystem that supports life on Earth. It plays key roles in the well‐being of society in numerous ways. However, climate variability and land use land cover (LULC) change have caused spatiotemporal water supply variation. Disentangling the effects of climate variability from LULC change on water supply is crucial for sustainable water resource management. The main purpo…
How do modern transportation projects impact on development of impervious surfaces via new urban area and urban intensification? Evidence from Hangzhou Bay Bridge, China
Characterizing the spatiotemporal evolutions and impact of rapid urbanization on island sustainable development
Spatio-Temporal Trends and Identification of Correlated Variables with Water Quality for Drinking-Water Reservoirs
It is widely accepted that characterizing the spatio-temporal trends of water quality parameters and identifying correlated variables with water quality are indispensable for the management and protection of water resources. In this study, cluster analysis was used to classify 56 typical drinking water reservoirs in Zhejiang Province into three groups representing different water quality levels, using data of four water quality parameters for the…
Identification and Assessment of Potential Water Quality Impact Factors for Drinking-Water Reservoirs
Various reservoirs have been serving as the most important drinking water sources in Zhejiang Province, China, due to the uneven distribution of precipitation and severe river pollution. Unfortunately, rapid urbanization and industrialization have been continuously challenging the water quality of the drinking-water reservoirs. The identification and assessment of potential impacts is indispensable in water resource management and protection. Thi…
