    Open Access•M I Prudêncio, R Marques et al.•ARTICLE•Radiocarbon•2007•Cited by: 1•References: 5

The dune of Oitavos, the underlying paleosol, and Helix sp. gastropod shells found within the paleosol were dated using a combination of radiocarbon and blue optically stimulated luminescence (OSL). The organic component of the paleosol produced a significantly older age (∼20,000 cal BP) than the OSL age measurement (∼15,000 yr), while 14 C age measurements on the inorganic component and the gastropods produced ages of ∼35,000 yr and ∼34,000 yr, …

  • Neutron Activation Analysis of Archaeological Materials

    Open Access•Isabel Días, M I Dias et al.•ARTICLE•Archaeometry•2007•Cited by: 8•References: 13

Instrumental neutron activation analysis (INAA) has been applied to archaeological samples at the Portuguese Research Reactor (RPI) since 1973, and the number of samples analysed has increased steadily since the mid‐1990s. Archaeometric applications of INAA at RPI include the analysis of archaeological ceramics and the stones used in monumental architecture (menhirs) and other historical monuments. A programme of analysis also exists for measurin…
