  • Exploring Continental and Submerged Paleolandscapes at the Pre-Neolithic Site of Ouriakos, Lemnos Island, Northeastern Aegean, Greece

Open Access•Myrsini Gkouma, Panagiotis Karkanas et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary•2025

Recent archaeological discoveries across the Aegean, Cyprus, and western Anatolia have renewed interest in pre-Neolithic seafaring and early island colonization. However, the environmental contexts that support such early coastal occupations remain poorly understood, largely due to the submergence of Pleistocene shorelines following post-glacial sea-level rise. This study addresses this gap through an integrated geoarchaeological investigation of…

  • Early Cypriot Prehistory: On the Traces of the Last Hunters and Gatherers on the Island-Preliminary Results of Luminescence Dating

Evangelos Tsakalos, Nikos Efstratiou et al.•ARTICLE•Current Anthropology•2021•Cited by: 2•References: 36

Archaeological investigations at the Late Epipaleolithic/Pre-Neolithic campsite of Roudias, Cyprus, have revealed that this location was repeatedly visited by hunter-gatherer groups during the beginning of the Holocene. Despite the placement of the deeper lithic assemblages of the site within the Late Epipaleolithic tradition, the main obstacle of the site has been its lack of absolute ages. Previous attempts to date bone samples recovered from t…

  • Luminescence geochronology and paleoenvironmental implications of coastal deposits of southeast Cyprus

  • The Dose Rate Calculator (DRc) for Luminescence and ESR Dating—a Java Application for Dose Rate and Age Determination

Open Access•Evangelos Tsakalos, John Christodoulakis et al.•ARTICLE•Archaeometry•2016•Cited by: 5•References: 24

The Dose Rate calculator (DRc) is a software program written in Java that facilitates the calculation of dose rates and age determinations of materials, for use in palaeodosimetric dating methods. The program runs in a user‐friendly interface and provides a number of user‐controllable features. Dose rates are calculated using updated conversion and attenuation factors. This paper presents the basic principles that the software takes into account …
