Acculturation of Chilean Miners in the Sierra Nevada, Alta California
Chilean miners were among the first foreigners to arrive in California during the Gold Rush of the mid-1800s. They were quickly subjected to violent ethnic conflicts with Euroamerican miners that forced many to withdraw from California.
