Chemical and mineralogical analysis of tenax used as a metalworking auxiliary material in artefacts from the early Avar-period cemetery of Makó–Mikócsa-halom
In this study, we present the composition of tenax used as an adhesive and as a reinforcing or filling material, identified on two unique artefacts recovered from the Early Avar-period cemetery of Makó–Mikócsa-halom: a circular pendant forming part of a necklace and a belt mount. The paper presents an analysis of early Avar-period gold sword scabbard fittings, discovered during a metal-detector survey at the site of Szarvas-Kovács-halom and subsequently verified through archaeological excavation. These ornates belonged to the scabbard of a so-called ring-pommel sword with a triple-arched suspension and had been deliberately deposited in a shallow pit. Absztrakt A dolgozat a Békésszentandrás-Benda-tanya és Szarvas-Kovács-halom lelőhelyről nyolc, a 7. század második és harmadik negyedéből származó temetkezés régészeti elemzését adja. A nyolc temetkezésből öt ún. lószerszámos temetkezés, vagyis a sírokba csak a lószerszám került elhelyezésre. Ezek nemcsak a Tiszántúlról eddig ismert lószerszámos temetkezések számát növelik, hanem új adatokat is szolgáltatnak e temetkezési szokás értékeléséhez

This study presents the archaeological fieldwork carried out by the Rippl-Rónai Museum between 2018-2019. They included plan excavations, prevention excavations and ones performed during observation. Our biggest excavations were related to the expansion of road 67 into a 2x2 lane. Recent advancements in accelerator mass spectroscopic (AMS) radiocarbon ( 14 C) analytical methods and instrumentation offer us reliable conventional 14 C ages with highly reduced analytical uncertainty for archeological bone collagen.
