  • Differential responses of Asian summer monsoon circulation and local hydroclimate during the Holocene

Open Access•Xiang Mi, Dianbing Liu et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2026

  • Insolation control of millennial-scale Asian summer monsoon changes evidenced by Chinese stalagmites δ18O records

Open Access•Shushuang Liu, Dianbing Liu et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2022

  • A southern and northern control on speleothem-based Asian summer monsoon variability during MIS 4

Open Access•Dianbing Liu, Shushuang Liu et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary Research•2019

A 20-year-resolution speleothem δ 18 O record from southern China reveals a detailed Asian summer monsoon (ASM) history between 73.6 and 62.3 ka. ASM changes during Interstadial 19 and late MIS 4 matched Greenland temperature variations but were antiphased with Antarctic temperatures. However, long-term strengthening of the ASM in early MIS 4 agrees well with the gradual Antarctic warming, when Greenland remained in a stable cold state. More spec…

  • Remote vs. local control on the Preboreal Asian hydroclimate and soil processes recorded by an annually-laminated stalagmite from Daoguan Cave, southern China

Open Access•Dianbing Liu, Yongjin Wang et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2017

  • Strong coupling of centennial-scale changes of Asian monsoon and soil processes derived from stalagmite δ 18 O and δ 13 C records, southern China

Open Access•Dianbing Liu, Yongjin Wang et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary Research•2016

The paleoclimate application of speleothem δ 13 C is influenced by site-specific processes. Here we present four stalagmite δ 13 C records from two caves in southern China, covering early and late Marine Isotope Stage (MIS) 3 and the Holocene, to investigate the spatio-temporal pattern of calcite δ 13 C changes and the relationship with Asian monsoon (AM) variability. In each growth period, precessional- to millennial-scale changes are clear in t…

  • Multi-scale Holocene Asian monsoon variability deduced from a twin-stalagmite record in southwestern China

Open Access•Wei Huang, Yongjin Wang et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary Research•2016

We present two isotopic (δ 18 O and δ 13 C) sequences of a twin-stalagmite from Zhuliuping Cave, southwestern China, with 230 Th dates from 14.6 to 4.6 ka. The stalagmite δ 18 O record characterizes orbital- to decadal-scale variability of Asian summer monsoon (ASM) intensity, with the Holocene optimum period (HOP) between 9.8 and 6.8 ka BP which is reinforced by its co-varying δ 13 C data. The large multi-decadal scale amplitude of the cave δ 18…

  • Centennial-scale Asian Monsoon variability during the mid-Younger Dryas from Qingtian Cave, central China

Open Access•Dianbing Liu, Yongjin Wang et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary Research•2013

The regional climate correlation within the Northern Hemisphere in the cold/dry mid-Younger Dryas event (YD) remains elusive. A key to unraveling this issue is sufficient knowledge of the detailed climate variability at the low latitudes. Here we present a high-resolution (3-yr) δ 18 O record of an annually laminated stalagmite from central China that reveals a detailed Asian monsoon (AM) history from 13.36 to 10.99 ka. The YD in this record is e…

  • A high-resolution stalagmite record of the Holocene East Asian monsoon from Mt Shennongjia, central China

Open Access•Jinguo Dong, Jinguo Dong Jinguo Dong et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2010•Cited by: 22•References: 5

High-resolution oxygen isotope (δ 18 O) profiles of six stalagmites from Sanbao Cave in Hubei province, central China, established with 1413 oxygen isotope data and 65 230 Th ages, provide a continuous history of East Asian Summer Monsoon (EASM) intensity for the period from 13—0.2 thousand years before present (ky BP, relative to AD 1950). The δ 18 O record includes four distinct stages in the evolution of the EASM: (1) an abrupt transition (~11…
