  • Diversity patterns of plant functional types in the Holocene of Central India

    Open Access•Torsten Utescher, Sushma Prasad et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2023•References: 6

Diversity of Plant Functional Types (PFTs) along a sediment core drilled in Lonar Crater Lake, Central India, is analysed, based on previously published pollen data for a total of 115 depth levels and covering the past 9.2 kyr. Our results support concepts of a dominantly humid period persisting until ca. 5 ka, succeeded by a significantly drier phase with weaker monsoon, including various prominent drying pulses. Throughout the Holocene, plant d…

  • Holocene vegetation and climate dynamics of NE China based on the pollen record from Sihailongwan Maar Lake

Open Access•Martina Stebich, Kira Rehfeld et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary Science Reviews•2015

  • Modern pollen vegetation relationships in a dry deciduous monsoon forest

Open Access•Nils Riedel, Martina Stebich et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2015

  • Prolonged monsoon droughts and links to Indo-Pacific warm pool

Open Access•Sushma Prasad, Ambili Anoop et al.•ARTICLE•Earth and Planetary Science Letters•2014

  • Climatic imprint of the mid-latitude Westerlies in the Central Tian Shan of Kyrgyzstan and teleconnections to North Atlantic climate variability during the last 6000 years

    Open Access•Stefan Lauterbach, Roman Witt et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2014•Cited by: 4•References: 17

In general, a moderate drying trend is observed in mid-latitude arid Central Asia since the Mid-Holocene, attributed to the progressively weakening influence of the mid-latitude Westerlies on regional climate. However, as the spatio-temporal pattern of this development and the underlying climatic mechanisms are yet not fully understood, new high-resolution paleoclimate records from this region are needed. Within this study, a sediment core from L…

  • Comparison of modeled and reconstructed changes in forest cover through the past 8000 years

    Open Access•Thomas Kleinen, Pavel E Tarasov et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2011•Cited by: 3•References: 12

Reproducing the tree cover changes throughout the Holocene is a challenge for land surface–atmosphere models. Here, results of a transient Holocene simulation of the coupled climate–carbon cycle model, CLIMBER2-LPJ, driven by changes in orbital forcing, are compared with pollen data and pollen-based reconstructions for several regions of Eurasia in terms of changes in tree fraction. The decline in tree fraction in the high latitudes suggested by …

  • East-Asian monsoon variability between 15 000 and 2000 cal. yr BP recorded in varved sediments of Lake Sihailongwan (northeastern China, Long Gang volcanic field)

Open Access•Georg Schettler, Qiang Liu et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2006

A palaeohydrological reconstruction on decadal scale for the period 15000-2000 cal. yr BP based on calculated net accumulation rates for biogenic silica (F-bSiO 2 ) and additional proxies (sedimentological data, geochemical sediment characteristics and pollen) is derived from varved sediments of Lake Sihailongwan (SHL). In Lake SHL, F-bSiO 2 is positively correlated with the inflow of nutrient-rich groundwater. Since groundwater inflow is mainly …

  • Correlation and synchronisation of Lateglacial continental sequences in northern central Europe based on annually laminated lacustrine sediments

Open Access•Thomas Litt, Achim Brauer et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary Science Reviews•2001

  • Bio- and chronostratigraphy of the lateglacial in the Eifel region, Germany

    Open Access•Thomas Litt, Martina Stebich•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•1999
