  • Hydrographic shifts south of Australia over the last deglaciation and possible interhemispheric linkages

Open Access•Matthias Moros, Patrick De Deckker et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary Research•2021

Northern and southern hemispheric influences—particularly changes in Southern Hemisphere westerly winds (SSW) and Southern Ocean ventilation—triggered the stepwise atmospheric CO 2 increase that accompanied the last deglaciation. One approach for gaining potential insights into past changes in SWW/CO 2 upwelling is to reconstruct the positions of the northern oceanic fronts associated with the Antarctic Circumpolar Current. Using two deep-sea cor…

  • Rapid Centennial Scale Reductions in North Atlantic Deep Water During the Peak of the Last Interglacial Period

    Open Access•Ulysses S Ninnemann•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2012

  • Controls on δ 18 O and δ 13 C profiles within the aragonite bivalve Arctica islandica

    Open Access•L C Foster, Nicola Allison et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2009•Cited by: 1•References: 2

The geochemistry of Arctica islandica shells provides an opportunity to reconstruct intra-annual resolution climate records in temperate latitudes, and the annual banding allows close temporal constraint. Stable isotope analyses of carbon and oxygen from an Arctica islandica live-collected at 6 m depth from Irvine Bay, UK are presented. Seawater temperature ranges reconstructed from shell δ 18 O agree, within error, with instrumental sea surface …

  • Seasonality of human site occupation based on stable oxygen isotope ratios of cod otoliths

Open Access•Anne Karin Hufthammer, Hans Høie et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Archaeological Science•2009•Cited by: 13•References: 2
