  • Susceptibility Assessments and Validations of Debris-Flow Events in Meizoseismal Areas

Saier Wu, Jian Chen et al.•ARTICLE•Natural Hazards Review•2020

The 2008 Wenchuan earthquake triggered tens of thousands of landslides, resulting in rich loose materials for the 8.13 debris flows. Longchi Town in southwest China’s Sichuan Province was one of the worst hit areas both by the Wenchuan earthquake and 8.13 debris flows. The loose source materials generated by coseismic landslides in the Longxi River watershed of the upper Min River are widely distributed and cover an area of 7.97 km2. The volume h…

  • Using 10 Be exposure dating to constrain glacial advances during the late glacial and Holocene on Mount Xuebaoding, eastern Tibetan Plateau

Open Access•Beibei Liu, Zhijiu Cui et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary Research•2018

Moraines preserved around Mount Xuebaoding (5588 m above sea level) on the eastern margin of the Tibetan Plateau, represent past glacial activity in this area. The chronology of these moraines was established using 10 Be exposure dating. The dating results revealed multiple glacial events prior to the late glacial ( > 14.1±2.2 ka), the late glacial (15.6±1.6 to 11.2±3.0 ka), the early-middle Holocene (9.1±0.9 to 6.7±0.7 ka), and the Neoglacial pe…

  • Climate change since 11.5 ka on the Diancang Massif on the southeastern margin of the Tibetan Plateau

Open Access•Jiangqiang Yang, Wei Zhang et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary Research•2010

The Diancang Massif is located in a region linking the Tibetan and Yungui Plateaus. Climatically, it is in a transition belt between the south and middle subtropical zones, controlled by Indian monsoon and westerlies. Thus, this study provides more evidences on the evolution of Indian monsoon since the Holocene. We reconstruct the history of climate on the Diancang Massif since 11.5 ka, using integrated correlation of glacial activities, early hu…

  • A review of glacial sequences of the Kunlun Pass, northern Tibetan Plateau
