  • Late-Holocene variation in vertical thermal gradient from the coastal East China Sea

    Open Access•Yuxin He, Bangqi Hu et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2018•References: 2

The evolution history of coastal upwelling systems in the East China Sea over the late-Holocene are important yet difficult to be characterized. Here, we present ~3000-year temperature records based on both alkenones (U K’ 37 ) and glycerol dialkyl glycerol tetraethers (TEX H 86 ) from a sedimentary core in the coastal upwelling site of the southern East China Sea. By examining the similarity and difference between the down-core TEX H 86 -derived…

  • Prehistoric heavy metal pollution on the continental shelf off Hainan Island, South China Sea

    Open Access•Fangjian Xu, Bangqi Hu et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2017•Cited by: 1•References: 8

Human–environment interactions across historical periods in China have been well reconstructed over the past decade; however, few studies have focused on southern China, particularly Hainan Island. This study investigated two sediment cores (cores X1 and X2) collected from the continental shelf off Hainan Island in the northern South China Sea. Combined with geochemical compositions (Al, Ni, Cu, Zn, Cd, and Pb), Sr-Nd isotopes, grain size, and AM…

  • Holocene shifts in riverine fine-grained sediment supply to the East China Sea Distal Mud in response to climate change

    Open Access•Bangqi Hu, Zuosheng Yang et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2014•Cited by: 1•References: 11

Holocene changes in fine-grained sediment supplies to the East China Sea outer shelf were uncovered, through the mineralogical and geochemical analysis of Core B3 in the East China Sea Distal Mud (ECSDM). Based on the lithology, accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS) 14 C dating, and sea-level change, Core B3 can be divided into two major units: transgressive stage (Unit 1: 12.5–6.8 kyr) and highstand stage (Unit 2: 6.8–0 kyr). Significant discrepan…

  • Provenance and climate change inferred from Sr–Nd–Pb isotopes of late Quaternary sediments in the Huanghe (Yellow River) Delta, China

Open Access•Bangqi Hu, Guogang Li et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary Research•2012

We present a provenance study of core ZK2 from the Huanghe (Yellow River) Delta in order to assess the impacts of climate change on the sediment supplies during the last glacial–interglacial cycle. Facies analysis and sequence stratigraphy methods are used to construct the age model. Sr isotopic compositions of ZK2 range from 0.716389 to 0.723884, with 87 Sr/ 86 Sr increased with decreasing grain size. Nd and Pb isotopic compositions display two …

  • Temporal and spatial variations of sediment rating curves in the Changjiang (Yangtze River) basin and their implications

Open Access•Bangqi Hu, Houjie Wang et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2011
