  • Post-LGM glaciomarine processes revealed by inner shelf sedimentary facies analysis (Terra Nova Bay, Western Ross Sea, Antarctica)

Open Access•Giulia Giorgetti, Carlo Baroni et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2024

  • Holocene dust in East Antarctica

    Open Access•Barbara Delmonte, V Holly L Winton et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2019•Cited by: 1•References: 10

In this paper, we provide a comprehensive overview of the state-of-knowledge of dust flux and variability in time and space in different sectors of East Antarctica during the Holocene. By integrating the literature data with new evidences, we discuss the dust flux and grain-size variability during the current interglacial and its provenance in the innermost part of the East Antarctic plateau as well as in peripheral regions located close to the T…

  • Mid-Holocene relative sea-level changes along Atlantic Patagonia

    Open Access•Monica Bini, Ilaria Isola et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2017•Cited by: 1•References: 5

This paper concerns the relative sea-level changes associated with the Atlantic Patagonian coast derived from sea-level index points whose elevation was determined by a differential global position system (DGPS). Bioencrustations from outcrops located near Camarones, Chubut, Argentina, consist of autochthonous deposits characterized by Austromegabalanus psittacus (Molina, 1782), encrusting acervulinid foraminifera, coralline red algae and bryozoa…

  • GPR versus Geoarchaeological Findings in a Complex Archaeological Site (Badia Pozzeveri, Italy)

    Open Access•Adriano Ribolini, Monica Bini et al.•ARTICLE•Archaeological Prospection•2016•Cited by: 1•References: 3

The results of a Ground‐penetrating radar (GPR) survey were compared with the archaeological excavation outcomes of a twelfth century abbey site (Badia Pozzeveri). The goal was to associate the types of reflections recorded in GPR profiles and high‐amplitude features visible in amplitude maps with unearthed archaeological features. GPR profiles crossing the walls evidenced axes of hyperbolic point source reflections and short planar reflections r…

  • Insights into the Holocene environmental setting of Terra Nova Bay region (Ross Sea, Antarctica) from oxygen isotope geochemistry of Adélie penguin eggshells

    Open Access•Sandra Lorenzini, Ilaria Baneschi et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2011•References: 1

An oxygen isotope record of Adélie penguin ( Pygoscelis adeliae) eggshells from Terra Nova Bay (Victoria Land, Antarctica) has been reconstructed in order to provide insights into the palaeoenviroment of this region during the last ~8000 years. The δ 18 O values measured in eggshell carbonate show a great variability over the course of the studied period, with maximum values consistently around +27.5‰. Adopting a metabolic enrichment relative to …
