  • Bouguer gravity anomaly in the Colfiorito Quaternary continental basin, northern Apennines, central Italy

Open Access•Michele Di Filippo, Paolo Mancinelli et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Maps•2025

Gravity anomaly data provides fundamental contributions to the investigation of the geological features at the crustal scale. In this work we present new gravity data acquired over the Quaternary Colfiorito basin in central Italy. After standard correction of such new data, we present the Bouguer anomaly map that we calculate from it. We also attempt a first order modeling of the data by calculating regional and residual field anomalies over the …

  • Fractured carbonate aquifers of Sibillini Mts. (Central Italy)

Open Access•Stefano Viaroli, Francesco Mirabella et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Maps•2021

The aim of the present map is to illustrate a detailed pre-earthquake hydrogeological conceptual model of the Sibillini Mts. This area was struck by a prolonged seismic sequence of up to Mw 6.5 in 2016. Geological, tectonic, and hydrogeological data were collected from the literature before 2016, subsequently standardized and re-interpretated with the aim of presenting a hydrogeological map (1:50,000 scale) of the Sibillini Mts. carbonate system …

  • Photo-geology of the Montefalco Quaternary Basin, Umbria, Central Italy

Open Access•F Bucci, Francesco Mirabella et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Maps•2016

We present a photo-geological map for the 185 km2 fault-bounded, Montefalco Basin, Umbria, Central Italy. The basin formed in the Quaternary in response to extensional tectonics dissecting folds and thrusts of the northern Apennines range. To prepare the 1:25,000 geological map, we integrated geological and morphological information obtained through the visual analysis of three sets of aerial photographs of different age, the collection of new fi…
