  • Surface ruptures following the 30 October 2016 M w 6.5 Norcia earthquake, central Italy

    Open Access•Riccardo Civico, S Pucci et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Maps•2018

We present a 1:25,000 scale map of the coseismic surface ruptures following the 30 October 2016 Mw 6.5 Norcia normal-faulting earthquake, central Italy. Detailed rupture mapping is based on almost 11,000 oblique photographs taken from helicopter flights, that has been verified and integrated with field data (>7000 measurements). Thanks to the common efforts of the Open EMERGEO Working Group (130 people, 25 research institutions and universities f…

  • Broken speleothems reveal Holocene and Late Pleistocene paleoearthquakes in Northern Calabria, Italy

Open Access•Elisa Joy Kagan, Francesca Romana Cinti et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2017

  • High-resolution δ 18 O and δ 13 C records during the past 65 ka from Fengyu Cave in Guilin

    Open Access•Hong-Chun Li, Miryam Bar-Matthews et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2017

  • Ancient Environment and Human Interaction at Tell eṣ-Ṣâfi/Gath

Oren Ackermann, Noam Greenbaum et al.•ARTICLE•Near Eastern Archaeology•2017•References: 5

An archaeological site is an integral part of its surrounding landscape. This is one of the main novel approaches in the long-term archaeological project of Tell eṣ-Ṣâfi/Gath. The site has interacted with its surrounding for more than three thousand years. It was impacted by the ancient environment, but also had an impact on both the ancient environment and current conditions. The following is a summary of environmental research that has been car…

  • Traces of the active Capitignano and San Giovanni faults (Abruzzi Apennines, Italy)

Open Access•Riccardo Civico, Anna Maria Blumetti et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Maps•2016

We present a 1:20,000 scale map of the traces of the active Capitignano and San Giovanni faults in the area of the Montereale basin (central Apennines, Italy) covering an area of about 80 km2. Detailed fault mapping is based on high-resolution topography from airborne LiDAR imagery validated by extensive ground truthing and geophysical prospecting. Our analysis allowed the recognition of several features related to fault activity, even in scarcel…

  • Quaternary geology of the Middle Aterno Valley, 2009 L'Aquila earthquake area (Abruzzi Apennines, Italy)

Open Access•S Pucci, Fabio Villani et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Maps•2015

We present a new 1:25,000-scale geological map of the Middle Aterno Valley basin, the epicenter of the 2009 L'Aquila MW 6.1 earthquake. This earthquake highlighted the incomplete understanding of the geology of the area, in particular the Quaternary continental deposits and active tectonics, which caused the Paganica fault system to be ignored by researchers. The map, utilizing airborne LiDAR analysis and traditional field survey approaches, is th…
