  • Manual mapping of drumlins in synthetic landscapes to assess operator effectiveness

    Open Access•John K Hillier, M J Smith et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Maps•2015

Mapped topographic features are important for understanding processes that sculpt the Earth's surface. This paper presents maps that are the primary product of an exercise that brought together 27 researchers with an interest in landform mapping wherein the efficacy and causes of variation in mapping were tested using novel synthetic DEMs containing drumlins. The variation between interpreters (e.g. mapping philosophy, experience) and across the …

  • Glacial chronology, environmental changes and implications for human occupation during the upper Pleistocene in the eastern Cantabrian Mountains

    Open Access•Enrique Serrano, Manuel Gómez-Lende et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2015

  • Geomorphology and geomorphological landscapes of Fuentes Carrionas

    Open Access•Ramón Pellitero•ARTICLE•Journal of Maps•2014

A 1:12, 000 geomorphological map of Fuentes Carrionas (Northern Spain) is presented. Geomorphological landscapes maps are also shown to support map interpretation and show the area's geomorphological diversity. The maps were developed using the IGUL (Institut de Géographie, Université de Lausanne) geomorphological mapping legend. This has been adapted to GIS scheme in order to use the map as a basis for further work. The IGUL legend has been demo…

  • Application of an alpine geomorphological mapping system to an atlantic mountain environment

Open Access•Ramón Pellitero, Ramon Pellitero Ondicol•ARTICLE•Journal of Maps•2009

Please click here to download the map associated with this article. A detailed geomorphological map is presented for the Curavacas Massif whose elevations range from 1,350 to 2,525 m.a.s.l. This map shows the presence and extension of structural, fluvial, glacial, periglacial, and anthropogenic landforms and deposits, as well as mass movements. Unlike most Spanish geomorphological maps, this follows the Institute of Geography of Lausanne Universi…
