  • The Role of Intersectional Stigma in Coronary Artery Disease Among Cisgender Women Aging with HIV

    Tiffany R Glynn, Michaela E Larson et al.•ARTICLE•Behavioral Medicine•2024

Cisgender women living with HIV experience elevated cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk that increases with age, a concern given extended life expectancies for people living with HIV. The CVD risk disparity among cisgender women aging with HIV is understudied and remains unclear. Taking a psychoneuroimmunology approach, given this group's intersecting marginalized identities, one potential driver of the disparity is intersectional stigma. Yet not a…

  • Do training programs promote identification and treatment in cases of elder abuse in Long Term Care (LTC) facilities

Sara Alon, Barbara Lang et al.•ARTICLE•Educational Gerontology•2022

To examine the impact of training on detection and reporting cases of elder abuse and neglect perpetrated by staff in LTC facilities and to compare staff with previous training to those with no training. A quantitative study in which questionnaires were collected from 250 multi- professional participants at a training seminar. Trainees with previous training on elder abuse reported higher perceived self-efficacy, higher intention to take action a…

  • Status and Prospects for Achieving Aichi Biodiversity Target 11

    Open Access•Patrick Gannon, Edjigayehu Seyoum-Edjigu et al.•ARTICLE•PARKS•2017

This paper reviews the current status of Aichi Biodiversity Target 11 at the global level. Although there remain gaps in the coverage of ecological regions and areas important for biodiversity and ecosystem services, 10 per cent coverage of coastal and marine areas under national jurisdiction has already been surpassed. The full implementation of agreed national priority actions and other commitments, including those in National Biodiversity Stra…

  • Unpacking equity for protected area conservation

Open Access•Kate Schreckenberg, Phil Franks et al.•ARTICLE•PARKS•2016

There have been numerous calls to ensure that protected areas are governed and managed in an equitable manner. While there has been progress on assessing management effectiveness, there has been less headway on defining the equitable part of the equation. Here we propose a framework for advancing equity in the context of protected area conservation that was developed through a process of expert workshops and consultation and then validated at thr…

  • Early-Holocene temperature variability inferred from chironomid assemblages at Hawes Water, northwest England

    Open Access•Barbara Lang, ALAN BEDFORD et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2010•Cited by: 4•References: 19

This paper presents the first high-resolution chironomid-inferred mean July air temperature (C-IT) reconstruction for the early Holocene from England. The reconstruction is based on a core recovered from a terrestrialised carbonate bench at Hawes Water, a small hard-water lake in northwest England. The record shows that temperatures rose rapidly after the Younger Dryas with temperatures reaching 14.0°C at the beginning of the Holocene. Over mille…
