  • Forms of International Cooperation in Environmental Education

    Open Access•Victor V Ionov, Nikolay V Kaledin et al.•ARTICLE•Baltic Region•2016•Cited by: 1

The authors analyse different forms of environmental education projects and programmes implemented in the Baltic Sea region. The first one is "The Baltic University" programme taught in English. The "Baltic University" is a network of more than 200 universities from 14 counties of the Baltic Sea region. This education programme offers an opportunity for students to enroll on bachelor and master degree programmes related to environmental and socia…

  • Composition and Flux of Holocene Sediments on the Eastern Laptev Sea Shelf, Arctic Siberia

    Open Access•Henning A Bauch, Heidemarie Kassens et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary Research•2001

A 467-cm-long core from the inner shelf of the eastern Laptev Sea provides a depositional history since 9400 cal yr. B.P. The history involves temporal changes in the fluvial runoff as well as postglacial sea-level rise and southward retreat of the coastline. Although the core contains marine fossils back to 8900 cal yr B.P., abundant plant debris in a sandy facies low in the core shows that a river influenced the study site until ∼8100 cal yr B.…

  • Reflection of Scandinavian Ice Sheet Fluctuations in Norwegian Sea Sediments during the Past 150,000 Years

    Open Access•Karl-Heinz Baumann, Karl‐Heinz Baumann et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary Research•1995

The record of glacier fluctuations in western Scandinavia, as reconstructed from continental data, has been correlated with records of ice-rafted detritus (IRD) from well-dated sediment cores from the Norwegian Sea covering the past 150,000 yr B.P. The input of IRD into the ocean is used as a proxy for ice sheet advances onto the shelf and, thus, for the calibration of a glaciation curve. The marine results generally support land-based reconstruc…
