René L Vellanoweth, Antonio Porcayo‐michelini et al.•ARTICLE•The Journal of Island and Coastal…•2020•References: 9

This study used photogrammetry to analyze digital video taken before and after a new moon perigean spring tide that caused extensive damage to archaeological sites along the Upper Gulf of California coastline, south of San Felipe, Baja California, México. We created a 3D digital surface model (DSM) and orthophoto of the Conchero 4 site, a large multicomponent shell midden and sand dune. Results showed mass wasting (∼100 linear meters and ∼1500 m3…

Chechen President Dudayev's failure to provide effective governance created pro‐Russian Federation Chechen factions but Moscow's clumsiness in handling them by December 1994 left Yeltsin with only one option — full‐scale milit…

  • The Kosovo conflict

    William Hayden•ARTICLE•Civil Wars•1999•Cited by: 4•References: 4

This article argues that the armed conflict in Kosovo illustrates that forced displacement resulting in both internally displaced persons and refugees is an intentional, deliberate strategy of the parties to the internal conflict, and not just a consequence or unintended effort of the hostilities between ethnic Albanians and Serbs. The escalation of hostilities was also framed by the international community's lack of coherent conflict management …
