Ślady obecności tradycji hermetycznej w wywodzie księdza Chairemona w wersjach z 1794 i 1804 roku Rękopisu znalezionego w Saragossie Jana Potockiego zostały dostrzeżone już ponad 100 lat temu przez Tadeusza Sinkę. Sinko zauważył również, że cytaty z Poimandresa i z De mysteriis Aegyptiorum są dość wierną parafrazą nie tyle oryginałów greckich, ile ich łacińskiego przekładu pióra Marsilia Ficina.
