This paper explores the writing and printing contexts of the works of Alonso Jer & oacute;nimo de Salas Barbadillo and Alonso de Castillo Sol & oacute;rzano to shed light on their similarities and differences. We also aim to include both polymaths in the literary field (1609-1635) of Lope de Vega, without disregarding their posthumous works or the existing critical bibliography
