  • Critical reflections of postgraduate researchers on a collaborative interdisciplinary research project

Open Access•Ben Purvi, Hannah Keding et al.•ARTICLE•Humanities and Social Sciences…•2023

By employing a retrospective collaborative autoethnographic approach, this work aims to better understand how an interdisciplinary context shaped the authors’ experiences of British academia during their Ph.D research. The authors bring together their individual observations and experiences to collectively interrogate and critically reflect on their position as postgraduate researchers (PGRs) on a collaborative interdisciplinary research project.…

  • STS Researchers as Technology: Multiple Positionalities as Interpretations of Participant Expectations and Agendas

Open Access•Adam Gary Lewis, Ashley Lewis•ARTICLE•Catalyst Feminism Theory…•2023

Science and technology studies (STS) researchers integrated into interdisciplinary research projects learn important lessons of collaboration dynamics by analyzing the lived experience of the research participants. Previous approaches of STS researchers included laboratory studies and reimagining the collaborative process as a research method. However, previous research on interdisciplinary projects repeatedly cites recurring challenges, indicati…

  • The power of neural oscillations to inform sentence comprehension: A linguistic perspective

    Open Access•Yanina Prystauka, Adam Gary Lewis•ARTICLE•Language and Linguistics Compass•2019•Cited by: 5•References: 139

The field of psycholinguistics is currently experiencing an explosion of interest in the analysis of neural oscillations-rhythmic brain activity synchronized at different temporal and spatial levels. Given that language comprehension relies on a myriad of processes, which are carried out in parallel in distributed brain networks, there is hope that this methodology might bring the field closer to understanding some of the more basic (spatially an…

  • Imagining autonomy on stolen land: Settler colonialism, anarchism and the possibilities of decolonization

    Adam Gary Lewis•ARTICLE•Settler Colonial Studies•2017

This paper examines the connections between anarchist organizing, Indigenous resistance, settler colonial studies, questions of land, and prospects for decolonization. I challenge anarchism, and anarchist projects that occur on stolen Indigenous lands, to integrate analysis of historical and contemporary colonization into their theory and practice and begin to explore what decolonizing relationships to land might look like. Indigenous theorists s…

  • Ethics, Activism and the Anti-Colonial: Social Movement Research as Resistance

    Adam Gary Lewis•ARTICLE•Social movement studies•2012•Cited by: 11•References: 19

This paper expands the possibility of an anti-colonial theoretical grounding for social movement research. Anarchist and militant forms of social movement research serve as a starting point for theorizing ethically oriented and embedded social movement research, and theoretical connections with Gramsci's notion of the organic intellectual are set out. These positions are brought into conversation with an anti-colonial paradigm that recognizes col…
