  • Contextualising archaeological models with geological, airborne and terrestrial LiDAR data

Open Access•Deodato Tapete, Vanessa Banks et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Archaeological Science•2017•Cited by: 2•References: 10

  • Accounting for groundwater in future city visions

    Open Access•Stephanie Bricker, S H Bricker et al.•ARTICLE•Land Use Policy•2017•Cited by: 2•References: 43

City planners, urban innovators and researchers are increasingly working on ‘future city’ initiatives to investigate the physical, social and political aspects of harmonized urban living. Despite this, sustainability principles and the importance of urban groundwater are lacking in future city visions. Using London as a case study, the importance of groundwater for cities is highlighted and a range of future city interventions may impact on groun…

  • Trends and perspectives of space-borne SAR remote sensing for archaeological landscape and cultural heritage applications

    Open Access•Deodato Tapete, Francesca Cigna•ARTICLE•Journal of Archaeological Science…•2016•Cited by: 2•References: 7

  • Amplitude Change Detection with Envisat Asar to Image the Cultural Landscape of the Nasca Region, Peru

    Open Access•Francesca Cigna, Deodato Tapete et al.•ARTICLE•Archaeological Prospection•2013•Cited by: 2•References: 2

Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) amplitude information from ENVISAT C‐band advanced SAR (ASAR) data was used to analyse the cultural landscape of the Nasca region, southern Peru. A multispatial environmental analysis was performed over the whole drainage basin of the Rio Grande, by extracting the radar backscattering coefficient ( σ 0 ) of both natural and anthropogenic features between 2003 and 2005. Co‐registration of the ASAR scenes to a single …

  • Prospection and Monitoring of the Archaeological Heritage of Nasca, Peru, with Envisat Asar

    Open Access•Deodato Tapete, Francesca Cigna et al.•ARTICLE•Archaeological Prospection•2013•Cited by: 4•References: 3

The processing method based on synthetic aperture radar (SAR) amplitude information presented by Cigna et al. (2013, this issue) was used to extract the backscattering coefficient ( σ 0 ) from ENVISAT advanced SAR (ASAR) scenes to investigate the archaeological heritage of the Nasca region, southern Peru. Average backscattering and σ 0 time series in 2003–2007 were obtained for some of the most famous groups of the Nazca Lines, as well as for the…

  • Integrating radar and laser-based remote sensing techniques for monitoring structural deformation of archaeological monuments

Open Access•Deodato Tapete, Nicola Casagli et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Archaeological Science•2012•Cited by: 9•References: 3

Ground-Based Synthetic Aperture Radar Interferometry (GBInSAR) and Terrestrial Laser Scanning (TLS) were purposely integrated to obtain 3D interferometric radar point clouds to facilitate the spatial interpretation of displacements affecting archaeological monuments. The paper describes the procedure to implement this integrated approach in the real-world situations of surveillance of archaeological and built heritage. Targeted tests were carried…
