  • The Making of Forum Ware

Open Access•Martina Bernardi, Simona Boccuti et al.•ARTICLE•Archaeometry•2026

The object of this study consists of an archaeometric investigation of Early medieval Forum Ware glazed ceramics found in the central archaeological area of Rome, a significant chronological and economic marker for 8th–11th centuries. Instrumental analysis included digital microscopy, ESEM‐EDS imaging, EDS spectral analysis, EMPA quantitative measurements and XRF investigations. Results provided clues about the chemical‐mineralogical composition …

  • Deep-Seated Gravitational Slope Deformations in Molise region (Italy)

Open Access•Marco Emanuele Discenza, Carlo Esposito et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Maps•2023

This paper focuses on Deep-Seated Gravitational Slope Deformations (DSGSDs) identified in the Molise region (Italy), along the central-southern sector of the Apennines chain. These phenomena were detected and mapped through a combination of aerial-photo interpretation, morphological analyses, and field surveys, integrated through satellite SAR interferometry (InSAR). The obtained general map is organized in different sections: inventory map with …

  • Chemical‐petrographic and isotopic characterization of the volcanic pavement along the ancient Appia route at the Aurunci Mountain Pass, Italy

Open Access•Emiliano Di Luzio, Ilenia Arienzo et al.•ARTICLE•Geoarchaeology•2019•References: 3

The ancient Appia route was built across central‐southern Italy between the fourth and second century before the common era (B.C.E.). At the Aurunci Mountain Pass, the route crosses carbonate ridges that provided the raw material used to pave the road in the first century C.E. This material was replaced with lava blocks of unknown origin in the third century C.E. The study area is at least 50 km from the main volcanic centers along the peri‐Tyrrh…
