  • Sex differences in cognitive function among patients with bipolar disorder

Open Access•Zhonggang Wang, Gong Zhang et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2026

Background Bipolar disorder (BD) is a severe mental illness characterized by high recurrence rates and notable cognitive deficits. Although sex differences are known to influence the clinical characteristics of BD, their specific impact on cognitive function remains unclear. This study aimed to examine the role of sex in shaping cognitive profiles within a large sample of BD patients. Methods The sample included 243 individuals, 168 patients with…

  • Passive working memory relies on episodic mechanisms for maintenance

Open Access•Ziyuan Li, Zhenzhen Yang et al.•ARTICLE•Cognitive Psychology•2026

  • Short-term outcomes associated with fluoxetine, low-frequency rTMS, and their combination in first-onset adolescent OCD

Open Access•Zhenzhen Yang, Chunfeng Hu et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2025

The findings suggest that combining fluoxetine with LF-rTMS may be associated with greater short-term improvements in symptom severity, cognitive function, and neural activity compared with monotherapy, while maintaining a favorable safety profile

  • Pray Away the Gay

Open Access•Aaron Degañ os, Aaron Dega&ntilde os et al.•ARTICLE•SSRN Electronic Journal•2024

  • Revealing ancient yellow colorants in painted artworks along the silk Road (6th-10th century AD)

Open Access•Sihan Zhao, Zhang He et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Archaeological Science•2024•References: 5

  • A positive association between the prevalence of circadian syndrome and overactive bladder in United States adults

Open Access•Yunfei Xiao, Shan Yin et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2023

Objective: To explore the association between the prevalence of circadian syndrome (CircS) and overactive bladder (OAB). Materials and methods: Cross-section analysis was based on the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 2005-2018. Data regarding OAB was collected from questionnaires. The association between the prevalence of CircS and OAB was elucidated using three multivariable logistic regression models. Stratified and interaction …

  • Clinical characteristics and cognitive function in bipolar disorder patients with different onset symptom

Open Access•Zhonggang Wang, Haiyan Cao et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2023

In our study, there were cognitive impairments in attention, memory, and executive function of patients with different onset syndromes of bipolar disorder. Compared with the mania group, the degree of cognitive impairments in bipolar patients with the depressive episode was more severe. The risk factors affecting cognitive impairments included the age of onset, education level, number of hospitalizations and severity of illness

  • Association between circadian syndrome and the prevalence of kidney stones in overweight adults

Open Access•Yunfei Xiao, Shan Yin et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2023

CircS was positively associated with the prevalence of kidney stones in overweight people, especially people as females, aged 35 to 49, and Mexican Americans

  • Case report

Open Access•Zerui Hu, Zhenzhen Yang et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2022

We described a rare side reaction of amisulpride. Psychiatrists should take this side effect seriously in the clinical setting. The mechanism of this adverse reaction warrants further investigation and debate. When this side effect occurs during treatment, reducing the dosage of amisulpride and subsequently discontinuing medication, along with monitoring the electrocardiogram and serum myocardial enzymes, may be the most appropriate treatment pro…

  • Dynamics of a Bacterial Community in the Anode and Cathode of Microbial Fuel Cells under Sulfadiazine Pressure

Open Access•Zhenzhen Yang, Hongna Li et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2022

Microbial fuel cells (MFCs) could achieve the removal of antibiotics and generate power in the meantime, a process in which the bacterial community structure played a key role. Previous work has mainly focused on microbes in the anode, while their role in the cathode was seldomly mentioned. Thus, this study explored the bacterial community of both electrodes in MFCs under sulfadiazine (SDZ) pressure. The results showed that the addition of SDZ ha…

  • Regulatory Variation within 3’UTR of STAT5A Correlates with Sudden Cardiac Death in Chinese Populations

Open Access•Huan Yu, Yadong Guo et al.•ARTICLE•Forensic Sciences Research•2021•References: 1

Definitive diagnosis to sudden cardiac death (SCD) is often challenging since the postmortem examination on SCD victims could hardly demonstrate an adequate cause of death. It is therefore important to uncover the inherited risk component to SCD. Signal transducer and activators of transcription 5 A (STAT5A) is a member of the STAT family and a transcription factor that is activated by many cell ligands and associated with various cardiovascular …
