  • East Asian monsoon dynamics revealed by calcified root cells from a loess paleosol sequence in Northern China

    Open Access•Charlotte Prud’homme, Eric Verrecchia et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary Research•2026

The East Asian monsoon is a key component of the global climate system; our understanding of its long-term variability and seasonal dynamics remains incomplete. Here we evaluate calcified root cells (CRCs) as a novel paleoenvironmental proxy. We apply this approach to the Fanshan loess–paleosol sequence, northeast China, on the northern margins of East Asian monsoon influence. We present the first continuous down-profile record of CRC concentrati…

  • Deciphering the intricate link between watershed-level land use changes and reservoir eutrophication in central Argentina over the 20-21 century

  • Maize consumption in pre-Hispanic south-central Andes

  • The Volterran Urns

    Open Access•E Gliozzo, Jorge E Spangenberg et al.•ARTICLE•Archaeometry•2014•Citada por: 1•Referências: 19

The artistic evolution of the V olterran cinerary urns is a good representation of E truscan painting from the fourth to the first century bc . The interest generated by this type of object directed our research towards the study of the V olterran artefacts, including the analysis of the pigments as well as that of the rocks used for the coffers. The entire colour range shown by the painted urns has been sampled and investigated through R aman mi…

  • Elemental (C/N ratios) and isotopic (δ 15 N org , δ 13 C org ) compositions of sedimentary organic matter from a high-altitude mountain lake (Meidsee, 2661 m a.s.l., Switzerland)

Open Access•Florian Thevenon, Thierry Adatte et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2012

The deposition of Late Pleistocene and Holocene sediments in the high-altitude lake Meidsee (located at an altitude of 2661 m a.s.l. in the Southwestern Alps) strikingly coincided with global ice-sheet and mountain-glacier decay in the Alpine forelands and the formation of perialpine lakes. Radiocarbon ages of bottom-core sediments point out (pre-) Holocene ice retreat below 2700 m a.s.l., at about 16, 13, 10, and 9 cal. kyr BP. The Meidsee sedim…

  • Microstructural, chemical and isotopic evidence for the origin of late neolithic leather recovered from an ice field in the Swiss Alps

    Open Access•Jorge E Spangenberg, Montserrat Ferrer et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Archaeological Science•2010•Citada por: 9•Referências: 10

  • Chemical analyses of organic residues in archaeological pottery from Arbon Bleiche 3, Switzerland – evidence for dairying in the late Neolithic

    Open Access•Jorge E Spangenberg, Stefanie Jacomet et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Archaeological Science•2005•Citada por: 52•Referências: 1

  • Pigments and Plasters Discovered in the House of Diana ( Cosa , Grosseto, Italy)

    Open Access•D Damiani, E Gliozzo et al.•ARTICLE•Archaeometry•2003•Citada por: 15•Referências: 7

The pigments and the plasters of the Roman frescoes discovered at the House of Diana (Cosa, Grosseto, Italy) were analysed using non‐destructive and destructive mineralogical and chemical techniques. The characterization of both pigments and plasters was performed through optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy and electron microprobe analysis. The pigments were identified by Raman spectroscopy and submitted to stable isotope analysis. T…
