  • Confidence Intervals

    Open Access•Eduardo Ley•CHAPTER•Wiley Encyclopedia of Management•2015

In an estimation context, we are often interested in determining a plausible set of values for the unknown parameters rather than to simply rely on single point estimates.

  • Maximin Criterion

    Open Access•Eduardo Ley•CHAPTER•Wiley Encyclopedia of Management•2015

Suppose that, when a manager is faced with a decision, the payoffs from choosing any of the different strategies available will depend on the circumstances beyond her control (e.g., stochastic events, other people's strategies, etc.), which we shall refer to as “states of the world.”

  • Technical Efficiency

    Open Access•Eduardo Ley•CHAPTER•Wiley Encyclopedia of Management•2015

In Physics, efficiency is the ratio of useful work done to the total energy expended, and the same general idea is associated with the term in production.

  • Tax Incentives for Business Investment

    Open Access•Howell H Zee, Janet Gale Stotsky et al.•ARTICLE•World Development•2002•Cited by: 11•References: 3

  • Model uncertainty in cross‐country growth regressions

Open Access•Carmen Fernandez, Eduardo Ley et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Applied Econometrics•2001

We investigate the issue of model uncertainty in cross‐country growth regressions using Bayesian Model Averaging (BMA). We find that the posterior probability is spread widely among many models, suggesting the superiority of BMA over choosing any single model. Out‐of‐sample predictive results support this claim. In contrast to Levine and Renelt ( 1992 ), our results broadly support the more ‘optimistic’ conclusion of Sala‐i‐Martin ( 1997b ), name…

  • On the Estimation of Demand Systems Through Consumption Efficiency

Eduardo Ley, Mark F J Steel•ARTICLE•The Review of Economics and…•1996

We consider a Bayesian implementation of a new approach to estimating Demand Systems. This approach, suggested by Varian (1990), is based on a generalization of Afriat's (1967) e-ciency index. The model we propose leads to a very tractable posterior and predictive analysis, yet allows for interesting economic interpretations. We conduct a sensitivity analysis with respect to the prior in an application to annual aggregate U.S. consumption data, a…
