  • Beyond the three-component model of organizational commitment.

Omar Solinger, Omar N Solinger et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Applied Psychology•2008

This article offers a conceptual critique of the three-component model (TCM) of organizational commitment (Allen & Meyer, 1990) and proposes a reconceptualization based on standard attitude theory. The authors use the attitude-behavior model by Eagly and Chaiken (1993) to demonstrate that the TCM combines fundamentally different attitudinal phenomena. They argue that general organizational commitment can best be understood as an attitude regardin…

  • Planning behavior and perceived control of time at work

    Open Access•Brigitte J C Claessens, Wendelien Van Eerde et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Organizational Behavior•2004•Cited by: 6•References: 8

This study investigated two mediation models of time management. The first model consisted of parts of Macan's ( 1994 ) model. The second model combined this model with Karasek's ( 1998 ) Job Demand–Control model. Two sets of self‐report questionnaires were collected and were analyzed using structural equation modeling. The first model, in which perceived control of time was hypothesized to fully mediate the relation between planning behavior and…

  • Validity generalization

    Open Access•JEN A ALGERA, Patricia Jansen et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Occupational Psychology•1984•References: 5

This article presents some critical comments on the validity generalization procedure which has been presented by Schmidt, Hunter and others. They have put forward a method for testing the hypothesis that the variance in validity coefficients across situations for job‐test combinations is due to what they consider to be statistical artifacts. The Schmidt‐Hunter approach is criticized on the following points: the compilation of validity data, the …
