  • Supporting climate resilient development planning − a dynamic adaptive pathways based approach and an illustrative case from Cork City, Ireland

    Open Access•Gaby S Langendijk, Sadie McEvoy et al.•ARTICLE•Global Environmental Change•2025•References: 9

We present an approach to support planning Climate Resilient Development Pathways (CRDP). • This approach systematically integrates adaptation, mitigation, and sustainable development (AMD). • Novelties include: vision-based CRD strategies, target points, policy interactions. • An illustrative case for Cork City, Ireland, demonstrates integrating CRDP actions over time. To achieve climate resilient societies, climate adaptation, mitigation, and s…

  • Smartphone GIS

Open Access•Paul Holloway, Paul H Holloway et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Geography in Higher…•2025•References: 4

Smartphones are increasingly becoming embedded in geography curriculums, meaning research is needed to gather insights from the student perspective to guide best practice for optimised implementation across diverse cohorts. This is particularly important in the context of ensuring that UN Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) is met. In this article, we report on the role that student competency in technology (i.e. everyday user vers…

  • Geomorphology and substrate of Galway Bay, Western Ireland

Open Access•Denise McCullagh, Sara Benetti et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Maps•2020

A combination of multibeam bathymetry and backscatter, LiDAR altimetry and bathymetry, satellite images, and hydrodynamic model outputs were used to map the seafloor and coastline of Galway Bay (western Ireland). This is the first time these multiple datasets have been integrated into a single combined geomorphological and substrate map. The substrate of the bay is predominantly mud and sand with bedrock outcropping extensively around the coastli…
