  • First Nations pre‐LGM ochre processing in Parramatta, NSW, Australia

    Open Access•Timothy Owens, Timothy Owen et al.•ARTICLE•Archaeology in Oceania/Archæology…•2024•Cited by: 3•References: 35

Previous archaeological evidence and published analysis has suggested that ochre was first used in the Sydney Basin around 9000 years ago, and that the Parramatta region may not have been occupied by First Nations peoples before ∼14 ka. • Social information inherent in backed artefacts from the Illawarra, western, and southwestern Sydney, NSW

    Open Access•Simon Munt, Beth White et al.•ARTICLE•Australian Archaeology•2023•Cited by: 2•References: 23

  • A Kaurna burial, Salisbury, South Australia

Timothy Owens, Timothy Owen et al.•ARTICLE•Australian Archaeology•2014•Cited by: 1

In 2011 a burial was disturbed during work in Salisbury, a northern suburb of Adelaide, South Australia (SA). Subsequent archaeological excavation revealed a male human interment in a deep alluvial context with a number of unusual characteristics, including a bone point and several ‘binding’ hearths. A sample of femoral bone was submitted for AMS radiocarbon dating and bone collagen stable carbon and nitrogen isotope analysis. Dating determined t…
