    Open Access•Dragana Jeremić-Molnar, Aleksandar Molnar•ARTICLE•Sociologija•2023

In this article, the authors address the question of whether ?homosexual fascists? should be treated as a mere ?cliche? or as an idea that contains some scientific value. After a short introductory part, the problem of homosexuality in two influential pre-war theories of mass psychology ? Freud?s and Reich?s ? are examined and then their achivements are evaluated from the perspective of five most imprtant Hitler?s statements about Rohm and his as…

In the article, the authors deal with the works which were published by the Austrian Germanist Otto Höfler in the Third Reich and which were more or less dedicated to the Germanic warrior Männerbünde. The focus of their analysis is the book The Secret Cult Associations of the Germans (1934), derived from Höfler's habilitation thesis. In their opinion, Höfler expressed his fundamental scientific and ideological views in the second volume of this b…

  • Max Weber’s theory of Männerbund

    Open Access•Dragana Jeremić-Molnar, Aleksandar Molnar•ARTICLE•Sociologija•2021

Considering that Max Weber?s theory of the ?men?s union (Mannerbund)? is still unsurpassed today, despite the fact that it was not syst ematically developed anywhere, the authors undertook its reconstruction from the many fragments left behind after his death, primarily in the book Economy and Society. Although Weber is rightly considered to have paid the most attention to the phenomenon of warrior communism in his discussions of the Mannerbund, …

  • Franz Boas’ Postulate of the Warfare Origin of Secret Societies and Myths about the “Culture Heroˮ and the “Tricksterˮ in North America

Open Access•Dragana Jeremić-Molnar, Dragana Jeremić Molnar et al.•ARTICLE•Etnoantropološki problemi /…•2021

In this paper, the authors argue that Franz Boas had a coherent theory of the secret society, which he did not systematically develop anywhere, but which can be reconstructed from several of his works. The authors are not dealing with the whole theory, but only with the postulate of the warfare origin of secret societies (which later became the foundation of the Männerbund theory). Namely, Boas believed that the secret societies of the North Amer…

  • Singing in Paul’s Cult of the Possessed by Jesus’ Spirit

    Open Access•Dragana Jeremić-Molnar, Aleksandar Molnar•ARTICLE•Etnoantropološki problemi /…•2019

In the article the authors are dealing with Paul’s cult of the possessed by the spirit of the late magician Jesus, as well as with the place and the meaning of singing in its two main rituals: ritual meal and ritual conjuring of Jesus’ spirit. The conclusion of the analysis is that both rituals had the same two-part structure. Ritual meal consisted of love feast (agape), where the members of the cult were supposed to sing appropriate songs togeth…

  • The problem of reality in writings of Richard Wagner reality of artwork as transition from „reality of the contemporary world“ towards „reality of the future world“

    Open Access•Dragana Jeremić-Molnar•ARTICLE•Filozofija i drustvo•2014

Richard Wagner began perceiving the world in terms of decay as early as the mid-1840s and especially during the 1848-49 revolution. He did not critique the contemporary world (and its accompanying reality) as someone who merely understood it in his own way. Wagner actually developed his own version of the world that was meant to become the referential framework for creating an entirely different reality in the future. The most exhaustive source c…

  • Wandering Motive and Its Appeal On Reluctantly Wandering Franz Schubert

    Open Access•Dragana Jeremić-Molnar, Dragana Jeremić Molnar•ARTICLE•Etnoantropološki problemi /…•2013

Franz Schubert was not generous in commenting his own creative procedures, or in revealing his artistic inspirations. Therefore, it is even today not clear why Wilhelm Müller’s collection of poems entitled Winter journey attracted Schubert so strongly that he was so determined to set it as a whole to the music. In this article the author mentions, and rejects as well, couple of commonly accepted interpretations. The path to the lieder cycle Winte…

  • Schubert and Beethoven - Adorno’s early antipods of the music in bougeois epoch

    Open Access•Dragana Jeremić-Molnar, Aleksandar Molnar•ARTICLE•Filozofija i drustvo•2012•References: 1

In this article the authors are reconstructing the dichotomies which the young Theodor Adorno was trying to detect in the music of the bourgeois epoch and personify in two antipodes - Franz Schubert and Ludwig van Beethoven. Although already a devotee of Arnold Sch?nberg and the 20th century music avantgardism, Adorno was, in his works prior to his exile from Germany (1934), intensively dealing with Schubert and his opposition towards Beethoven. …

  • The listener of the chthonic god sand the barroom player: Adorno’s experience of Schubert

    Open Access•Dragana Jeremić-Molnar•ARTICLE•Filozofija i drustvo•2011

In this article the author is reconstructing the complex picture of Franz Schubert created by Theodor Adorno in his numerous references to the Viennese composer, but mostly in his 1928 article ?Schubert?. In the late 1920s Adorno experienced Schubert as the tragic composer whose music dwells in the realm of chthonic gods, but nevertheless reveals the joy of ?traveling folk, jugglers and tricksters?. It remained, however, unclear how this joy coul…

  • Adorno's Marxism versus Schoenberg's Judaism: Ideological foundations of Adorno's sociological approach to Schoenberg's dodecaphonic music

    Open Access•Dragana Jeremić-Molnar, Aleksandar Molnar•ARTICLE•Sociologija•2009

In this article the authors devote their attention to the ideological dimension of Theodor Adorno's attitude towards atonality, and especially towards dodecaphonic music. They are arguing that Adorno never really wanted to understand close interrelatedness between Arnold Schoenberg's dodecaphonic project and his endeavors to go 'back to the roots' of Judaism. Instead, Adorno developed a Marxist pattern of explanation which was hostile towards any…

  • Debate on sublime in the end of 18th century: Burke, Kant, Schiller

    Open Access•Dragana Jeremić-Molnar, Aleksandar Molnar•ARTICLE•Filozofija i drustvo•2009

In the article the authors are examining three positions within the 18th Century aesthetic discussion on the sublime - Edmund Burke's, Immanuel Kant's and Friedrich Schiller's. They are also trying to reconstruct the political backgrounds of each of this theoretical positions: old regime conservatism (Burke), republican liberalism (Schiller) and romantic longing for the 'third way' (Kant). The most sophisticated and mature theory of sublime is fo…

  • Avant-garde: Making war, revolutionary politics and art

    Open Access•Dragana Jeremić-Molnar, Aleksandar Molnar•ARTICLE•Filozofija i drustvo•2008

In the article the authors are dealing with the militant potential of the concept of avant-garde. Emerging in the politics and art in the first half of the 19th century and designed to ruin almost the whole tradition of 'bourgeois' enlightenment, political and artistic avant-garde was never capable of emancipating itself from its roots in strategic military thinking. Its true essence was to create battlefields in every domain of public life where…

  • Constructing reality through music: The example of Richard Wagner’s festival theatre in Bayreuth

    Open Access•Dragana Jeremić-Molnar•ARTICLE•Sociologija•2007

In this article the author endeavors to present music as socially powerful and effective art, which has enormous potential to participate in the complex process of constructing reality, especially the reality of "symbolic universe" (in Peter Berger?s and Thomas Luckmann?s meaning of this term). In an attempt to define the role music could play in the process of reality construction, special attention is paid to music?s ability to create temporal …
