  • Elevating the Uses of Storytelling Methods Within Indigenous Health Research

Open Access•Kendra L Rieger, Mabel Horton et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2023

There is a profoundly troubling history of research being done on Indigenous peoples without regard for their priorities and accompanying calls to decolonize health research. Storytelling methods can privilege Indigenous voices in research. Indigenous people’s knowledge systems have existed for millennium, where knowledge is produced and shared through stories. Our collaborative team of Indigenous and non-Indigenous researchers, and Indigenous El…

  • Feasibility and acceptability of collaborative documentation tool for implementing medication-assisted treatment in substance use disorder counseling

Victor Lushin, Elizabeth B Matthews et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Social Work Practice…•2022

Despite the escalating opioid epidemic, as little as 11% of patients with opioid use disorder (OUD) receive medication-assisted treatment (MAT), the best-practice intervention for OUD. Many patients do not receive education about the benefits of MAT and thus hold negative beliefs about MAT, which reduces MAT uptake. Shared decision-making (SDM) helps engage patients in beneficial treatment decisions but is not systematically integrated into MAT c…

A Silke, John Morrison et al.•ARTICLE•Monatsschrift für Kriminologie…•2021

Improving our understanding of how disengagement and deradicalisation from terrorism and violent extremism occurs has critical real-world implications. A systematic review of the recent literature in this area was conducted in order to develop a more refined and empirically-derived model of the processes involved. After screening more than 83,000 documents, we found 29 research reports which met the minimum quality thresholds. Thematic analysis i…

Community–academic partnerships(CAPs) are a critical component of implementing and sustaining evidence‐based practices (EBPs) in community settings; however, the approaches used and mechanisms of change within CAPs have not been rigorously studied. The first step to advancing the science of CAP is to operationally define and contextualize the approaches used in CAP as part of the implementation process. Our research group has gleaned valuable les…

  • Confronting Perpetrators of Prejudice

    Open Access•Shelton J Nicole, Rebecca E Stewart•ARTICLE•Psychology of Women Quarterly•2004•Cited by: 47•References: 2

The purpose of this research is to investigate the extent to which social costs influence whether or not targets of prejudice confront individuals who behave in a prejudiced manner during interpersonal interactions. Consistent with our predictions, we found that although women believe they will confront perpetrators of prejudice regardless of the social costs, in reality, they are less likely to confront male perpetrators in high social cost situ…
